Stamkos gets an empty netter with 14.5 seconds left for his 51st of the season. if Crosby scores no more goals today, they tie for the Richard Trophy

Poor poor Henrik Lundqvist. He stops 46/47, but his team cannot score to save their playoff lives. Rangers are out and Flyers are in.

I am so crushed by this. All the emotion the last 3 weeks comes to a screaching hault. It was like an Easter miracle the way the Rangers got help from shit teams to get in a position to make playoffs.

Henry wore his heart on his sleeve in that game and deserved to be victorious just by his performance alone. I don't care who you are, you cannot make a goaltender face 45+ shots in the NHL. Doesn't matter if they won in a shootout or regulation. It's impossilbe to win that way, period.

Cut that shot total in half and they would've won 1-0.

And the playoffs are set. This is gonna be one hell of a ride.

Alright, all that's left is the end of the Ducks/Oilers game, and nothing of consequence is going to happen in that game, so here are my year-end predictions:

Western Conference:
San Jose vs. Colorado - San Jose in 5 games. I wonder whether Peter Mueller will be healthy or not to start the playoffs because he was on a monstrous tear before he got injured. Either way, I don't think the Avalanche have the firepower or the experience to keep up with the Sharks, as bad a playoff team as they are.
Chicago vs. Nashville - Chicago in 5 games. I don't see Niemi playing that well in the postseason, but the Predators are probably the least skilled team in the playoffs.
Vancouver vs. Los Angeles - Los Angeles in 7 games. Luongo has not been good at all leading into the postseason (although he played pretty well against a mightily struggling Flames team yesterday). The Sedins are sick, Kesler and Burrows are awesome, but their defence is very shaky right now and the amount of goals they allowed the last several games of the season reflect that.
Phoenix vs. Detroit - Detroit in 6 games. I would've said a Detroit sweep, but Bryzgalov is so good he'll probably steal a game or two. Detroit is one of the best teams in the league right now, and if it weren't for a poor start and injuries, they would've probably gone in as the fourth seed or maybe won their division. Now that they're healthy, I see them as the best in the West for sure. If Jimmy Howard continues to play as well as he has, that is, as this will be his first playoff experience.

Eastern Conference:
Washington vs. Montreal - Washington in 4 games. The Canadiens are nowhere near capable of competing with the Capitals. Halak's good, but he isn't that good, so he'll probably get scored on quite a bit.
New Jersey vs. Philadelphia - New Jersey in 6 games. Philadelphia played very well against the Devils this year (5-1-0), but they have major goaltending issues and haven't played too well leading into the playoffs.
Buffalo vs. Boston - Buffalo in 4 games. Boston doesn't have what it takes to score on Ryan Miller too many times, I don't think (unless they're shorthanded, in which case they'll score three).
Pittsburgh vs. Ottawa - Pittsburgh in 5 games. It's too bad the Senators have to face the Penguins in the first round and not the Devils, which is what I was hoping for, because they really don't have a team that can compete with the firepower and savvy of the Penguins.

Second Round:
Western Conference:
San Jose vs. Los Angeles - San Jose in 6 games. I still think San Jose is a bad playoff team, but they're still loaded with talent, and I don't think the Kings have enough to overcome it.
Chicago vs. Detroit - Detroit in 7 games. I will love it if these teams meet. Two original six teams in the same division. It would be a great series too, but the Red Wings have major playoff experience and, in my opinion, an advantage in net.
Eastern Conference:
Washington vs. Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh in 7 games. These two teams match up pretty well offensively, an edge to the Capitals, but on defence and goaltending, the Penguins way outrank the Capitals. The Capitals have no good defensive defencemen, and unless Theodore plays like he did with Montreal back when he won the Hart Trophy, they aren't going to be able to stop the goals from coming. The Penguins have stepped it up in the playoffs time and again the last two postseasons, and they'll have to again to beat the Capitals again.
New Jersey vs. Buffalo - Buffalo in 6 games. Ryan Miller. Need I say more?

Western Conference Finals:
San Jose vs. Detroit - Detroit in 6 games. The Sharks might be a little bit more talented, but it's only a little bit, and Nabokov has a history of failing to step up in the postseason, as do all the Sharks for that matter. This is where their talent won't be enough to get them through. The Red Wings are an awesome team and they have a plethora of playoff experience.

Eastern Conference Finals:
Buffalo vs. Pittsburgh - Buffalo in 7 games. Ryan Miller. I will say more, because if this happens, it will be an epic series, I think. Miller will probably have to face 40+ shots a game and be AMAZING in order to win this series. Timely goals from Jochen Hecht too.

Stanley Cup Finals:
Detroit vs. Buffalo - Buffalo in 7 games. Ryan Miller. He's that good. Does anyone know how home-ice advantage would work in this scenario? Because Detroit finished with more points, but Buffalo won their division, I would assume Detroit would get the advantage, but I'm not sure.

Now, what I would like to see happen would be a Vancouver vs. Ottawa Cup Finals with Ottawa winning it all.

Hart Trophy - Ryan Miller (Buffalo).
Vezina Trophy - Ryan Miller (Buffalo).
Calder Trophy - Tyler Myers (Buffalo). (although I think it should be Jimmy Howard)
Norris Trophy - Duncan Keith (Chicago).
Jack Adams Award - Dave Tippett (Phoenix).
Conn Smythe Trophy - Ryan Miller (Buffalo).

Western Conference Quarterfinals:

  • San Jose Sharks Vs. Colorado Avalanche - San Jose in four. Colorado barely limped their way into the playoffs. Unless Anderson comes with his A game, San Jose will take this one easily.
  • Chicago Blackhawks Vs. Nashville Predators - Chicago in six. Chicago is the better team, but Nashville has it in them to make this one a challenge. I'd love to see Nashville take this one, though, and I think out of any matchups in the West, this one has the higgest possibility of an upset.
  • Vancouver Canucks Vs. Los Angeles Kings - Vancouver in seven. This will be one hell of a matchup, and in the end I think it will come down to goaltending. Luongo will outplay Quick.
  • Phoenix Coyotes Vs. Detroit Red Wings - Phoenix in six. This is going to be the most exciting matchup. There will be no sweep; neither team is that good. Phoenix comes into this matchup with the superior goaltender, and I think that is going to help them win. This one is going to be a low scoring affair, but I expect Bryzgalov to outplay Howard. People don't give the Coyotes enough credit.

Eastern Conference Quarterfinals:

  • Washington Capitals Vs. Montreal Canadiens - Washington in four. Halak might give the Caps some trouble, but there is no way the Canadiens will win this series.
  • New Jersey Devils Vs. Philadelphia Flyers - New Jersey in five. The Devils are superior to the Flyers across the board. Considering I picked the Flyers to make the finals at the beginning of the season, this is depressing.
  • Buffalo Sabres Vs. Boston Bruins - Buffalo in five. I know I said Buffalo wouldn't make it out of the first round, but they're playing the lowest scoring team in the league. Miller won't even break a sweat.
  • Pittsburgh Penguins Vs. Ottawa Senators - Pittsburgh in six. Another case where one team is just superior to the other.

Western Conference Semifinals:

  • San Jose Sharks Vs. Phoenix Coyotes - San Jose in six. If this matchup actually happens, then I can't even predict who will win. Phoenix (or any team that faces San Jose at this point) has the potential to beat the Sharks, and we all know about the Shark's playoff history. I'm giving this one to San Jose cause I think a win in the first round will lift a lot of weight off of the player's shoulders and help them stay focused.
  • Chicago Blackhawks Vs. Vancouver Canucks - Vancouver in seven. Luongo will steal this one for the Canucks. If he so much as falters in this series, Chicago will take advantage.

Eastern Conference Semifinals:

  • Washington Capitals Vs. Pittsburgh Penguins - Washington in five. The Capitals are simply the better team. The Penguin's playoff experience aside, the Caps have shown throughout the season that they have the Penguin's number. This year's Sid/Ovy matchup won't even be close.
  • New Jersey Devils Vs. Buffalo Sabres - New Jersey in six. Obviously, it is going to be a goaltending clinic, but in the end I think the Devils' experience will win out. Brodeur and Miller will put on one hell of a show.

Western Conference Finals:

  • San Jose Sharks Vs. Vancouver Canucks - San Jose in six. As much as I would love to say the Canucks will win - and they very well could - I think that, if the Sharks can make it this far, they will be unstoppable. Nabokov will be looking to avenge his Olympic loss.

Eastern Conference Finals:

  • Washington Capitals Vs. New Jersey Devils - New Jersey in seven. At first, I would predict a Caps victory, but when I think about it, it makes more sense that the Devils would come out on top in a series between these two. Brodeur will have to play better than he ever has to stop Ovy and the Caps, but in the end, I predict the Devils will pull off the victory.

Stanley Cup Finals:

  • San Jose Sharks Vs. New Jersey Devils - San Jose in six. The Sharks will finally get their Cup this year. This would be one hell of a final, but like I said earlier; if the Sharks can make it this far, there will be no stopping them. There will be blood in the water and silver in San Jose.

I am sick and tired of seeing Detroit win, win, win all the time.

It's like the old-school Yankees or John Wooden-era UCLA- success breeds contempt.

It's time for new blood in the West.

It's time that we see something new and refreshing in the West- I don't know how many more times I can deal with seeing Nick Lidstrom every May.

Philly was 5-1 regular season against the Devils. But since both Langenbruener and Parise are on the team, I think I'm gonna cheer for them.

Stamkos is Co-Owner of the Rocket Richard Trophy!!!!!

Congrats to Stamkos he is the real deal! I hate that he has to share it with that pussy cindy. Still proud of my man OV,he played 10 less games than both cindy and Stamkos and still scored 50. LET THE BEARD GROWING BEGIN!

I'm really happy for him , he's a class act and he deserves it. Ok so I got what I wanted for Stammer , now my next wish is for the caps to destroy The Montreal Canadiens in 4 games.

You and me both! Stamkos is the kind of guy you can rebuild your franchise around and after some tweaking to the roster, you guys will be in the running for the southeast title again.I want the CAPS to win the cup so bad,but just as important is beating the pens in a playoff series.I hope they dont get knocked out before we can play them.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
The Bruins are finally healthy and expectations are low. They beat Buffalo recently and the Bruins are as healthy as they have been all year. Lucic hasn't done shit this year.

I am calling for a Bruins upset over the Sabres.
