lol, no shit. Just for rodfarva's sake. :1orglaugh

Wild need a center, but I don't know how much depth there is, and we need one now so we'll see what happens. They should make a trade.

Some of the previous #1's have been impressive:

Well, Edmonton can pick no lower than second, so they're pretty much guarenteed a quality player this draft. But, yeah... It would be pretty funny anyway. His head would probably explode. Or at least part of it.

I'm watching the TSN coverage of the draft lottery. They were showing a montage of past #1 picks. They had a highlight reel of Ovechkin and Crosby, and then they get to 2006 with Eric Johnson and they're just like "Yeah, that happened", before moving on. Pretty funny.

Johnson's not a bad defenseman at all. :dunno: But looks like Oilers get to pick first.

Marty Turco is the first big name to come on the free agency market as joe nieuwendyk announces his contract with Dallas will not be renewed

I think Turco has a few more seasons left. He's no longer a top ten goalie, but night-in and night-out he gives solid goaltending to any team. Certainly would provide stability to a team like Tampa, in my opinion.

having Turco around could be the answer for Smith. they did play very well together in Dallas. who knows?

:nono:

I know I've been plugging Hall all this time, but I hope we take Tyler Seguin. The analogy I would use to try to explain why is that I would rather have a Crosby than an Ovechkin (although I do not believe either Hall or Seguin will be as good as them). Seguin is more intelligent and a much better all-around player. Hall is a bona fide sniper and he will score many goals in the NHL, but I think Seguin will help a team WIN much more so than Hall will. Either way, you really can't go wrong because both guys are awesome, and since the Oilers were guaranteed a top-two pick, I didn't stress over the possibility of losing the first overall pick.

Boston is laughing. They made the playoffs this year and now they'll get either Hall or Seguin in this year's draft. Their future looks very bright. The Leafs are so stupid for giving up their first round picks this year AND next year, as well as their second round pick this year, to get Phil Kessel. They are the epitome of bad management.

P.S. Why were there so many people at Hudson's in Edmonton tonight to celebrate getting the first overall pick? It's like celebrating for being the worst team in the league. The season just ended and we finished dead last by a large margin, there's no reason to celebrate. Wait until the dust settles on this debauchery that was the Oilers 2009-2010 season, and then start celebrating over what could be a bright future ahead for our team.

If anything, Smith needs to be placed back down in the AHL. If he hasn't been playing the same since he got that concussion, then having him playing a partial number 1 schedule isn't going to do him any favours. But Turco might be able to show him a few things; definitely a veteran who could teach a younger guy a few things.

And I'm just going to predict this now; if Chicago does not make it to the Finals, then I see them taking a run at Vokoun in the off-season. Cause god knows Florida probably won't.

Not gonna lie..I just shaved today and my playoff beard is already looking mighty fine.

True, but I have to say I'm liking the sound of an Original Six team that is not the Red Wings winning the Cup this year.

Really, as long as its not Detroit/Pittsburgh again, I'll be happy.

I can live with Pittsburgh making it back.

The prospect of them facing Chicago/Vancouver/San Jose could be potentially epic.

I just don't want to see the Red Wings AGAIN.

This year, if my Sabres don't win it all, then I simply want one thing:

ANYBODY but Detroit.

I will be the happiest guy in the world if Phoenix takes them out.

Nothing lasts forever. The Yankees and Braves' division title streak eventually snapped. The Pac 10 caught up to the USC Trojans.

Surely, THIS is the year the Wings go down.... right?

Give it five-ten years and they'll be the Nashville Predators.

They'll be a playoff team?

If they fall off in 5-10 years, that would be a very dominant 25-30 year run. I got to witness 4 Stanley Cups, 6 Finals appearances, 15 Division Championships (so far) and some of the best players of all time. I can live with that. They're not going to be at the top forever. They've had one of the most successful runs of any franchise, in any sport. I hope all the Wing haters remember this when they eventually fall to the bottom of the conference. :thefinger

Actually, when you put it like that, they sound like they're gonna be the Edmonton Oilers.

Which will make you rodfarva.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
I don't see Detroit getting out of the second round. howard has been awesome, but the puck stops here (actually, 'it get through;' would be more appropriate)

Wow, I completely forgot that Boston got Toronto's 1st round pick in the Kessel deal. For some reason I thought it was a conditional 2nd rounder. Man that looks like it'll be a pretty good deal for Boston.
