NHL '09/'10 Season Thread

Lightning fans- do you feel confident with Tocchet behind the bench, or do you think soneone else should get the job eventually?

I think Tocchet deserves at least one full season as head coach just for the great job he did with Steven Stamkos. He really helped him turn a rookie season that was heading to a disaster into a great finish. He gave Stamkos his confidence back and put him back on the right track to become a great player. So yeah I have fate in coach Tocchet !

I think the Blackhawks are crazy for signing Hossa for 12 years. He's been poor in the postseason.

The Sedin signings are a bit nuts as well. The Canucks are strapped for $6.1 million a year EACH for 5 years and it'll be practically impossible to trade them.

The Islanders must be worried about the health of Rick DiPietro since they signed Roloson.

Spacek to Montreal. They re-signed Kovalev too, but the trade to acquire Gomez was such a big mistake; his contract is so cumbersome.

Scott Niedermayer back to Anahem for another year. A sigh of relief for the Ducks after trading Pronger.

Brian Boucher to the Flyers; he and Emery look to be the goaltending duo there next year.

Ohlund to TB is good for them, but his contract is steep and long-term.

Mike Knuble to the Caps; he's a great powerplay guy.

Ty Conklin to the Blues, I think Chris Mason is the way to go for them.

The best signing so far, to me, is Craig Anderson to the Avs. The Avs had their worst season for as long as I can remember last season and goaltending was a major issue. Anderson has been superb as Vokoun's backup the last three seasons and he briefly stole the starting job away from Vokoun last season as well, which is definitely a tall order if ever there was one. With Anderson between the pipes the Avs have greatly improved. Hopefully Sakic returns as well.

I'm happy the Oilers signed Khabibulin. They obviously needed a goalie and he was probably the best guy available. Personally, I would've liked to have seen the Oilers sign Craig Anderson, but the Avs got him. I'm not so sure about signing the Bulin Wall to a four-year deal though, he is 36 years old.

The only thing I don't like about the ohlund contract is the lenght. 5 years would have been enough since he is 32 but I guess he wanted a deal that would make him end his carreer somewhere. The amount is just right it's close to the same salary he made in vancouver so not a big raise at all for a very good d-man.
