Well, I guess now is as good a time as any to start one of these.

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Rams. This marks the second consecutive season that a team has made a big splash move at quarterback in the offseason and it has paid off with a Super Bowl win.

We already have things to talk about:

Where will some big names at the game's most important position (Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson, Russel Wilson, Jimmy G) be playing this season?

Will there be changes to the overtime rules?

Is this the year that Commissioner Roger Goodell is not booed at the Draft? Seems unlikely.

Free agency starts next month. The Draft is after that. Before you know it training camps will start and NFL football will be back. NFL '22 Season Thread starts now.

I'm interested in the politics. We'll have the Commanders for 2022, so will Kansas be next?
And Eminem's knee wasn't nearly as controversial or divisive as Colin's, so maybe that's a sign?

It’s also high time to do away with disparaging names such as Raiders, Buccaneers, and Pirates as they are insensitive to people who rob and use other violent criminal methods from ships. Not nice, people. 2022 and all…

Well, that is interesting.

I guess this means Jordan Love is available for trade. Might also make it easier for GB to work out a long-term deal with Davante Adams.

What an eventful day. Broncos send two 1st round picks, two 2nd round picks, a fifth round pick, QB Drew Lock, DL Shelby Harris and an additional player. Seattle sends Wilson and a fourth rounder. Wilson vs. Mahomes twice a year.

Also, Franchise tags are being handed out prior to the 4PM ET deadline.

This is going to work out very well for Denver I think. It's revealing that they have such a track record of getting big HOF QBs to come in and trigger a championship. They are going to be really hard to stop.

Duke: uh .. Denver is in the division with the Chiefs, Chargers, and Raiders. Just to win their division would be impressive!

In addition to yesterday's trade, Seattle is releasing 8x All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner. Looks like the Seahawks are in a complete rebuild at this point.

Franchise tags have been handed out:

Orlando Brown Jr, LT, Kansas City Chiefs
David Njoku, TE, Cleveland Browns
Jessie Bates III, FS, Cincinnati Bengals
Mike Gesicki, TE, Miami Dolphins
Dalton Schultz, TE, Dallas Cowboys
Cam Robinsion LT, Jacksonville Jaguars
Davante Adams, WR, Green Bay Packers
Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Khalil Mack traded to the Los Angeles Chargers for a 2nd and 6th round pick. Mack pairs with Joey Bosa to form one of the more formidable pass-rush duos in the league. AFC West has been active this week.

A grand jury has declined to indict Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson on criminal charges relating to allegations of indecent behavior and sexual assault, paving the way for him to be traded in the coming days. Seattle, Carolina, Philadelphia and Indianapolis have been reported to be among the most interested teams. Houston's demands are said to be steep and Watson will need to waive his no trade clause in order for a deal to be done.

This takes Tampa out of the Deshaun Watson discussion.

Minnesota has extended Kirk Cousins' contract by one year for an additional $35 million. This gives the Vikings some salary cap relief and locks in Cousins for at least two more seasons.

Michael Gallup has signed a 5 year, 62.5 million dollar deal with the Cowboys. Cowboys going with CeeDee Lamb and Gallup after trading Amari Cooper to the Browns.

Legal tampering period begins today at noon EST.

Mitchell Trubisky to the Steelers on a two year deal. It is said that the Giants were also in the mix for him but he chose Pittsburgh.

Davante Adams has told the Packers he will not play under the Franchise tag.

The Browns are releasing Jarvis Landry after trading for Amari Cooper.

In an Instagram post, Colin Kaepernick was seen working out with Tyler Lockett.

It's notable a week after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Kaepernick, unofficially blackballed by the NFL after his 2016 protests against police brutality, is "in the best shape of his life" and wants to return to the league. The workout with Lockett is noteworthy because Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said in a 2020 interview that he regretted not signing Kaepernick in 2017. "The reason it wasn't the right fit is because I held him in such a high regard I didn't see him as a backup quarterback and I didn't want to put him in that situation with Russ," Carroll said in 2020. "It just didn't feel like it would fit right. That's the way I felt about it." Seattle, meanwhile, is without a viable starting quarterback after dealing Russell Wilson to the Broncos last week. Now 34 years old, Kaepernick could be a no-risk signing for a QB-needy team like the Seahawks in the coming months.
