NFL '11 Season Thread

Cam faces the Pack. Down to earth, or does the Newt magic go on?

It started years ago when Tim was in HS and I saw him play in AL while visiting my parents. My brother was playing on the other team, and Tim killed it out there. That night, the local sports news guy dissed him saying that he's no QB and would not be at UF for long. Tim wound up doing great... everything they dissed him for, he overcame by making big play after big play. He becomes arguably one of the best college QB's ever, just to hear that he can't play the position in the NFL. It was at that time I thought of the local AL sports guy, and said: How long is this kid just gonna keep getting hated on?

Now he's with Denver, and he gone from being hated on to just flat out ignored. Last year, after the starter only amassed 3 wins, Tim got his chance. When critics said he wouldn't throw for any TD's, he threw for 5. When Denver's running game failed, he ran for 6 TD's. When the team was down, he brought the team and fans the energy they needed. All he got for this is continued excuses and hate from the media, and after this preseason was passed up by someone he unquestionably outplayed.

Other than watching Tim for years, Kyle Orton being a former Bear, and hating being held back, I have no other vested interest in Denver's situation. I will say that Kyle in Denver reminds me of Jeff Garcia in Cleveland: You know he's good, he just doesn't really work for that team. I personally think that Tebow will work better for Denver than Orton because of big play potential and mobility. Tim Tebow just gets the damn job done. He always has. In his limited play, he kept the Denver Broncos in a position to win the game every time. I know he can play, he just needs the chance to do what he does.

You are kind of proving everyone else’s point. Tebow simply does not have the skill sets to be an NFL QB. The only people who think otherwise are either Christian freaks, gator freaks or have some sort of personal tie that is blinding them.

Only one way to settle all this...put the kid on the field, that's the only place you will be able to tell if he has the skill sets to be an NFL quarterback.

Why is that the only way to settle it? Doesn’t Fox and Elway want to win? If I get enough friends to call for me to start does that mean I deserve a chance no matter how bad I suck in practice?

Sorry, I trust Fox and Elway’s judgment more than I do fanatics.

I'm sorry but I trust neither Fox nor Elway as it pertains to their current positions. Elway was a great player, but has done nothing yet as GM, and Fox was a lame duck coach who sat back as Carolina sunk to the depths of league with probably more talent than any other 2 win team ever. This is the same coach that can't evaluate talent or make decisions enough to separate Tebow and Quinn as a backup.

Again, Tebow deserves a shot on the strength of the fact that the current starter is 3-14. Fuck the excuses... Orton doesn't work for Denver just like Jeff Garcia didn't work for Cleveland. Don't give me shit about deserving a shot because Andy Dalton, Cam Newton, and Sam Bradford's starting gigs didn't come from earning it in the NFL, they came from a combination of being drafted to bad teams and their college careers. Why is it different for Tim Tebow?

It depends. While the Green Bay defense is better than Arizona's, they can still have their moments where they are lax on defending the pass or the run, and they are not always consistent. I don't think he has as good of a week this week though.

It's also hard to judge somebody on one week, especially the circumstances of this years first week of the season.

Shannon Sharpe: 'Tim Tebow is one of the 5 or 6 greatest college players ever." Just goes to show when maybe the greatest of all time (Tom Brady) rode the wood at Michigan and then Tebow is where he is why I really wipe my ass with the sports section with all the NCAA football fodder.

Oh, the Queens; after playing a phenomenal first half go out and choke under epic proportions in the second half. Purple Penis Eaters!

The Bears offensive line is an absolute joke. Seriously, I am laughing my ass off as I type and watch the train wreck that is the Bears O-line. I feel really bad for Jay Cutler if this is any indication of how his life is gonna be for the next 14 weeks.

I really am shocked Cutler didn't just walk off in protest. I know there were a couple of injuries there, but this is a flat out, sorry-ass performance.

The one and only.
If anyone needs me, I'll be looking for tall bridges to leap off.

Cleveland? Really? Really? Really?

Pucker Up Butter Cup.
And for the first pick of the 2012 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chiefs select Andrew Luck, nah that organization is so stupid they will pass him up! I'm sittin pretty on my B-day, the Pack is 2-0, yay! :)

Early Observations:

--Cam is for real...but INTs mean needs EXP.
--The Lions didn't just win. They dominated. 'Nuff said.
--My hats off to the Bills. Down 18 and scored 5 straight???
--Cincy/Denver works better than Sominex.
--See what I typed earlier for the Bills? Same for the 'Skins...except for the way the points were scored.
--The Cowboys are overrated...by some old fart, quasicommentator shitheels.

Martz reverted to his old ways, the run/pass ratio was horrible. Martz's pass-first, run-second mindset kills this team and is a recipe for disaster. Why did they get away from the running game when they had some success with it early in the game? The Bears run/pass ratio was 10:45, only ten fucking rushing attempts!
