NFL '10/'11 Season Thread.

Its Westbrook's style of running. Causes his own injuries in a self inflicting way. All those concussions stem from his style of running but yeah he is terribly explosive and when he gets going, he rips defenders apart.

Anyway all this McNabb talk is awesome. He leads the Eagles to playoffs every year, to a super bowl game, and they want him out. Totally hilarious. Detroit fans would give their left nuts to be able to make the playoffs every year. Do hope Mcnabb goes elsewhere and the Eagles fail to make the playoffs. Serve their fans right.

Werent all the philly fans pissed when T.O. said Favre would be a better choice the McNabb?

McNabb is one of the better quarterbacks in the league, although he does have his flaws. He hasn't deserved most of the criticism Philadelphia fans have given him over the years. It's even worse because of the fact Philadelphia fans are some of the worst at that. I'd say he's probably in the top 5-10 area. The team has always recognized his value though.

On the other hand he isn't getting any younger, will probably fall off by a good margin in the next few years after another year, maybe two, and the Eagles have a pretty good backup in the waiting. It's better to get rid of a player a year too early than a year too late, and nobody follows that philosophy better than the Eagles. Some fans, the media, and even players, sometimes their own, complain about the cold-hearted calculated mercilessness of it, but it's kept them from bottoming out like most other teams do. They have been one of the better teams and one of the better managers of talent management and acquisition during that time in large part because of that. Despite the list of star players over the last decade or so that the Eagles have gotten rid of people like to neglect that the vast majority of the time they were right about it and came out ahead because of it. It wasn't like they were having a fire sale, they always did it in a matter that not only have they not had to rebuild in a very long time, but they have been very competitive.

Okay, that is actually a good point. It is a bit cold how they handle their personnel(The Incident when Brian Dawkins was released comes to mind), but we often forget that the NFL is one of the coldest business around. The only exception I can give here, oddly enough, is McNabb. The fans have been screaming for him to go since he was 22. I personally felt sorry for the guy. Its like a kid going to live with relatives that hate your guts and might not feed you and may even beat you. McNabb however, has probably developed pretty tough skin though so I guess its okay.

Fortress Foxborough has been awfully quiet lately....just sayin :dunno:

Are the Patriots cookin' up a giant suck our nuts trade or signing??? :thefinger

Well they are re-signing Brady, they need a better TE so I think they are signing Crumpler, they still have a ton of defensive issues since their core super bowl defensive players left like Bruschi. They need Moss to really give a shit coz Moss is as lazy as they get if he doesn't have any motivation. Without Moss, they don't really have a deep threat. Welker is more of a possession receiver. He gets the chains moving but hes not a deep threat. Overall, their dynasty looks like its over. They got totally destroyed by the Ravens in the playoffs and I'm not sure how they're going to address all those glaring issues after such a loss.

ah wouldn't write off the Patroits the have 3 or 4 second rounders to plug those defensive holes or trade one for a TE,like chicago's Greg Olsen, or some other player and with the extra compensation picks they can make trades during the draft easily. Plus they seem to perform when challenged by other teams hence the jets and phins getting better may help them

The Rams have released Marc Bulger. Looks like they'll be drafting Sam Bradford with the 1st overall pick.

I thought being a 9er fan was tough.

Hmmm? I wonder if Shanahan will be able to pull it off....a winning Redskins team? With McNabb in place, his O line blocking scheme, an excellent TE, and just one more season from one of his three washed up RB's it could be interesting in Washington. Plus McNabb will get the chance to play the sleagles twice.

New York Jets have traded their 5th round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Super Bowl MVP wide receiver Santonio Holmes.

Steelers got ripped off if you ask me. Is Wallace going to step up in Steel town? Who's Big Ben going to throw it to??

Jets on the other hand know what they're doing. Holmes will take double teams off Braylon Edwards and it will send Jericho Crotchery back to the slot where he is most effective. Not to mention Tomlinson in the backfield catching passes and Shonn Greene running rampant over people.

They've got the weapons, and they definitely have the D, but will Sanchez take the Jets to glory?????

go lions . lol ok i couldnt say that with a straight face.

i agree with the above if sanchez can be an average QB with the talent they have it could be a jets and redskin superbowl hmm you never know .

Hey don't run smack talk on the Lions Bear!!! I may be a 9ers fan, but I have a soft spot for those guys. They've been shit for too long. They've made some solid moves this year. I think they're finally on their way up. Especially if they draft Suh. :nanner:

I'll be cheering for you guys!!! Go Lions. (unless they play San Fran )

Hey bear, long time no speak. What do ya think of Stafford. I think he's gonna take the Lions to the promise land one day. He's tough and seems to be able to handle that steep learning curve he's been put into. I hope he avoids the sophmore slump that rookies go through and megatron stays healthy. You'll be hearing about the Stafford to Johnson connection for a while.

thats always been our problem we either had good wrs and no QB or a good Qb and no wr this year we have both so look out it cant get any worse

As stupid as customized jerseys look, I might have to go that route. That's 3 Steeler Jerseys I have of people that ain't on the team anymore. Would have been 4 if Randle El didnt come back....

Holmes, Burress, and Porter

I think the Patriots have more holes than people realize. They are really in need of some more good linebackers. Even with some moderate upgrades the past year or so their secondary isn't anything to write home about either. I think Crumpler is about done though, but who knows. He wouldn’t be the first player to come to the Patriots and have some form of resurgence.

As far as Moss is concerned I think their was some reports that they sort of hid an injury with him (The Patriots are sort of notorious for stretching the injury reporting rules the league has) or at least they downplayed the seriousness of it. I think at some point last year Moss separated his shoulder and that really effected him more than they ever let on.

I wouldn't say their run of being a great team is over just yet. They got a competent coaching staff and front office, usually have above average drafts, and they still got a hall of fame quality quarterback they don't have to worry about replacing for the next few years at least.
