Once again, I find these comparisons between Arizona and now this small town in Nebraska to the years between 1933 and 1945 here in Germany are so wrong.
And illegal immigrants compared to the jews, gypsies, handicapped and homosexual people back then? Seriously?
The illegal immigrants are just that: They have come to the place they live in without a legal way to do so. The jews etc were legal citizens, but got hunted, put into work or concentration camps for other reasons, plain hate the main.
The people bach then had no way to become a german citizen, those immegrants have one. USA has always been letting immigrants in, it has become a lot less easy, but you can come in.
So, please, as a guy who has been doing quite a bit of reading books, from then, too and seeing a lot of documentyries and even been in some permanent exhibitions about those times... knock it off.
Surely, there is a certain element of anger at the immigrants, but can you blame the people? If you came to the country, and at least would be so decent to donate the same portion of your income to the city you live in, and seek to learn about the country so you can apply for citizenship later, I would say, okay, fair is fair, you can stay.
But if you just come because you want to be better off, that is leeching.
This initiative is the right way, even if it may be a 'Right' way. Which in itself, do not hate on me, fellow lefties, is not always a bad thing.
