MLS is The New No.3 Sports League in America

The link you posted says hockey is 4th, ahead of motorsports. Copy and paste fail.

I didn't copy and paste. Now you fail. I also didn't say I was putting them in order. I want people to actually look at the link. I see motorsports overtaking hockey soon and possibly basketball. That would be something. :D

If MLS is really catching fire, im missing alot. I live in a border city where theres a team in mexico nearby the natives take interest in, and NOBODY talks about MLS, or if anyone does its about how inferior it is to other soccer leagues. People talk about Chivas..NOT Chivas USA..also theres alot of people who take interest in La Ligua and some interest in the EPL, no one cares about MLS in my area.

So scripted and choreographed events are "sport" in your definition? I think we can agree to disagree. And yes, when the man in charge of the, in your word, sport, admits in court that the sport is fixed and then changes the name of his organization to avoid legal issues,I tend to see that he might have some insight on the issue.

Of course, he probably doesn't know what you do, so there you go.

To provide some perspective, here are total attendance stats for professional sports leagues in the US...

MLB-73M
NBA-21M
NHL-21M
NFL-17M
MLS-5.4M

And some more perspective...

Pacific Coast League (minor league baseball)-6.9M
International League (minor league baseball)-6.6M
American Hockey League (minor league hockey)-5.9M

and some more....

FBS College football-37M
Men's college basketball-26M
FCS College football-6M

So MLS ranks behind the NFL, NBA, NHL, and a couple of minor league baseball leagues, plus the top two levels of college football, and college basketball.

It does, however, beat out college hockey, although not by much.

I don't get why soccer people seem to want so much for Americans to care about it. We don't. Why does that matter?

The outcome might be scripted. The rest is acrobatics. The bumps they take certainly are not fake.
Not too many can be a professional wrestler.

Vince changed WWF to WWE because of years long legal fight with the World Wildlife Fund.

I am surprised to see baseball at number two..and remember, this comes from a fanatic of a baseball fan. I mean, a 162 game schedule lasts forever, it seems - to be able to pull in such a high average is rather impressive, me thinks.

A long season is better than a short season, like Football has.

No one is questioning whether or not the "wrestlers" are athletes. I just don't see how you can call anything that is scripted a sport.

If you look a little deeper into the WWF to WWE conversion, Vince changed to add "entertainment" to the name so that the medical regulations that apply to true sports were not applied to his his entertainment. Vince risked losing everything if he didn't make some changes.

They are athletes and finally you are coming around. Now admit wrestling is a sport.
The outcome is determined, that is all. :hatsoff:

Vince doesn't care about wrestlers. He cares about money.

The change to World Wrestling Entertainment was a result a lawsuit by the World Wildlife Federation. they sued claiming to have actual hold to the WWF letters, and Vince chose to save the money instead of a legal fight by just giving in to the WWF's demands

What is more of a real sport: soccer or pro wrestling?

No question it's soccer. The type of wrestling they do isn't a sport especially since the outcome is already predetermined. The WWE is entertainment not a sport.

I'm watching Houston at Sporting KC right now. The atmosphere at the stadium is unreal. For all you MLS haters, watch the playoff game tonight between Real Salt Lake and LA on ESPN. Just give it a chance at least, it's playoff soccer so it should be a good match.
