Chuck Hiller, 2nd base

That's four!

Does no one want to guess why Don Stanhouse earned the moniker "Full Pack" when he pitched for the Orioles back in the 1970s? (Hint: It had to do with his manager, Earl Weaver).

Weaver would have smoked a full pack of cigarettes during the game when Stanhouse pitched

Actually a full pack during the time that Stanhouse pitched but that was obviously a bit of an exaggeration but yes, you got it right Beaver! Ah yes....back in the day when the manager could get away with smoking in the dugout!

wild guess here

Weaver drinking a 6 pack in the dugout when Stanhouse on the mound?

Would that it were! Love your answer but, alas, it is not the case. :1orglaugh

One of if not the worst free agent signings ever by the Dodgers.
Was given a very large (for the time - 1980) 2 year guaranteed contract. After making only 21 appearances with an ERA over 5 he was dismissed from the team and wasn't invited back in year two :1orglaugh

Been mulling it over and I can't answer it. I remember that Mike Coolbaugh died a couple of years back from a batted ball striking him but that was in the minor leagues. Drawing a blank on this one.

Following MLB for 30+ yrs. I do not recall this tragedy at all during my time. Did the player die on/off the field? Think this happenend pre-helmet days 1956?

More of a question than MLB trivia. Dennis Bumgarner recently "set" a scoreless-innings record vs. Cards in post season play. With so many stats that make up the game who decides what threshold
is determined to set a record on a stat category. How does one set a record, but not "break" a record??

I think we're talking semantics here. "Set" and "break" would be synonymous as the terms apply to records from my perspective. The record he surpassed was originally "set" by Art Nehf of the NY Giants back in 1924. He broke it as far as I'm concerned.

Here's a website that uses both terms in the same headline:

By the way, just for the record his first name is Madison, not Dennis.
