MLB 2009 thread

What is it with Indians pitchers coming over to the NL in a trade and dominating like the second coming of Cy Young hisself? Last year with CC, and now Cliff Lee who I think has thrown a complete game in every start he has made as a Philly. Yankees and Phillies as its going right now is a safe bet for the WS. Also the only way to respond to almost being hit by a pitch for "protection" is to hit the next ball through somebody.

yaheem both pitchers where actually throwing better for Cleveland before they where traded but also going from last to first seems to elevate guys performance.

How bout that? Maybe Smoltz is a NL guy through and through. How was his fastball? Looks like the Cy Young is Carpenters to lose, Lincecum lost again to the Rockies as the Rox came back again. For once Im mad at Bochy for leaving him out there. Lincecum was struggling with his command for most of the day plus pitching in 90+ weather is not fun, especially for a guy who likes the cool weather. Here I am sounding like a typical homer fan, crying about an average team losing a lead once again.

Game over, tonights 14 inning loss to the Rockies was the deathblow to the Giants future in the playoffs.

I've never heard Damon Bruce as angry on the radio as he was after this game. And another good game by Zito......wasted.

^^^ I dont know, but it is something ridiculous, kinda like what they did two years ago. Good chance that the Rockies win the NL West and dodgers are the Wild Card team. Rox got pitching, offense, defense they got it all. And I hear Manny is back to being latter years Boston Manny again, and I hear he's also got some shrinkage with his body. Sports dont build character, it reveals it.:D

Manny has a clutch hit against the Rockies tonight, opposite field. He is a couple at-bats away from breaking out of his slump. Rockies will never catch the Dodgers.

With that being said out lead is down to 2 games :1orglaugh

Cardinal AAAA lineup beat the Pirates 2-1 on a 10th inning home run by pinch-hitter extraordinaire Albert Pujols !

I <3 Pujols. :lovecoupl

Anybody notice which team has the best record in the NL right now? :D The really scary thing (for other teams) is that they really haven't been hitting on all cylinders quit yet. It seems that Albert is starting to hit like he's capable and Ludwick seems to be a little better recently. It's been mostly due to (the top trio in baseball of) Carpenter, Wainwright and Joel Piñeiro. Smoltz has gotten the 4th spot locked down since he arrived and Boggs has pitched better his last 2 starts. Plus there's Lohse who they can work in to rest the top 3 and setup their rotation perfectly for the playoffs. And then they can maybe move Smoltz to the bullpen in the playoffs to help thief biggest problem - RH relief.

Oh and by the way, Brad Lidge blew his 10th save of the year a year after having zero last year  They need to get that bullpen straightened out if they want to advance in the playoffs (assuming they get there).

Dodgers clinch the West:hatsoff:

As a die hard Rockies fan, I feel it my duty to let you know the Dodgers did NOT clinch the West....they clinched a playoff berth......they probably will win the West, but as of right now they have not, and we still have a shot at winning it.....but I just hope to god we make the playoffs at this point.

I was at the game tonight.....congrats to the Cards for clinching the division crown.....it was a hell of a game. We got to Wainright, just not enough.

Hey, it wasn't all bad though. I got to see Holliday strike out. That made me happy. :D

GO ROCKIES!
