MLB 2009 thread

As a Phillies fan I'm mourning the passing today of Harry Kalas, the Hall of Famer broadcaster of the Philadelphia Phillies. He collapsed in the broadcast booth while preparing for the Phils-Nationals game in DC around 12:30 today. He was know nationwide for his narration for NFL Films and his voice in Campbells Chunky Soup, NFL Network, sports video game commercials. He called all the dramatic moments I've known as a Phillies fan. I will miss him.

I heard the news today and I didn't realize he was that guy.

Just a terrible week, Nick Adenhart, Harry Kalas, Mark Fidrych. This year is getting off to a bad start. As for the A's you'll find em on Comcast California, channel 89 on cable

Fuck all of you who are mourning Adenhart. None of you even knew who he was until he died. Unless you live where I do, I am correct in saying that.

Go A's, what channel are they on in the Bay Area anyway?

89 Comcast California, or 419 on Dish (like me). They weren't on tonight though, at least not for me, because of the damn Kings game.

I'm not sure where you're from, but I can definitively say I did know who he was. I watched him make his major league debut, and I've seen him play many times with the Salt Lake City Bees.

^^^ The A's on Dish I think are on 409, while Giants games are on 419. And does it matter to mourn for somebody because you dont know them? Just because you dont live where Analingus lives means you cant bear emotions for the deceased? I never had lunch with Harry Kalas so obviously I couldnt care less for him. Never saw Mark Fidrych pitch so my reaction to his passing was meh. Im guessing you live in the Anaheim-Los Angeles-Orange County-90210 area, when A's pitcher Joe Kennedy died a couple of years ago I hope you didnt give a fuck because you dont live in Oakland. Cmon on guy we cant all be in a geographically correct position when it comes to the dead, or because we didnt know who they were.

I'm not quite sure if that was addressed towards me, but in the case it was, I was actually trying to describe why I was mourning.

Nick Swisher just struck out Gabe Kapler.. swinging.. god I love it when position players have to pitch.

No doubt. Too bad he was their best pitcher for the game. At least he did not give up any runs. I am not so sure the early season predictions for Yankee dominance are not panning out in the first week.
