What a crock of shit that Elite XC show on CBS turned out to be. Some very shady stuff going on. Stuff that has no place in mma. This is a noble sport, rooted obviously in martial arts. The easiest thing in the world would be for someone with deep pockets like Gary Shaw (who comes from the dirtiest sport in the world, boxing) and start buying refs, judges, fighters. Something that this sport has so far avoided in this country.
Kimbo needed to win that fight. He was getting his ass handed to him by Thompson. Kimbo lands 3 shots and bloodies JT's ear (something that happens all the time to guys with cauliflower) and they stop the fucking fight. Bullshit. Not to mention one judge had the second round for Kimbo. Terrible judging is nothing out of the ordinary, but that was almost more like a 10-8 round for Colossus (which another judge had). And what do they do with Kimbo now? He's obviously not much more than a puncher, and he couldn't even drop a guy who's known to have a weak chin. If they let this guy near any fighter in the top 30 or so, it wouldn't be pretty. Better off just fixing the fights.
And why in the hell wasn't Scott Smith allowed his 5 minutes. You're allowed 5, and then they check again and that's when the fight should be resumed or stopped. I can't remember a doctor ever being called to check on an eye poke before. Smith's eye looked fine a few minutes afterward. Very bad stoppage of what was a very good fight.
All in all, I'm kind of embarrassed that this was MMA's first network exposure. This Gary Shaw seems like one greasy motherfucker and I wish he'd leave my sport the hell alone.
