Michael Jackson -> 1958-2009

Thanks for this thread Petra.

He was someone who made many people smile. I remember the first time I went to Disneyland and watched Captain Eo. I thought it was awesome how through his music and dance he was able to change the evil queen. In a way, that's just what he did in real life.

R.I.P. Michael :hatsoff:

I am kinda glad you stepped in and started this thread Petra, cause some of the stuff out there being posted was damn right vile at times . As my parents always told me, "If you havent got a good word to say about somebody, dont say anything". I personally quite liked his music/dancing, but thought as a person was perhaps two sandwiches short of a picnic at times, perhaps thats the price of such fame who knows? My condolences to his children family and all who knew him closely. :( :weeping:

The Best Entertainer of our times... He will be missed by millions, but His Legacy will inspire future generations of performers

will inspire future generations?

Put your finger on any of today's popular R&B singers and you'll find him literally copying Michael Jackson's musical and vocal techniques.

But nobody out today will even be remembered in 5 years. The American Pop music *scene* is nothing but churn and burn. It's also unlikely that anyone will have a long enough career to put out quality albums once they hit 30s. The U.S. companies force an EXTREME YOUTH FETISH obsession on the masses....

Michael Jackson was the last great American music GLOBAL superstar.

Eh?!? Madonna, Prince. Just two examples, both contemporaries of Jacko, both continually recording & touring. Not sitting on their arses for 2 decades doing next to nothing!!

Prince is/was/has never been on MJ's level. Madonna had MJ's talent for glamming up for the paparazzi, but never had his musical or dance ability.

MJ let his "messianic christ quest" be his own downfall, I have to say. He certainly was not putting out quality music since...maybe 1991?

we want to know how if you are important or not take mj the whole world stoped for him when he died i have said this in another mj thread but he was a mini god to many people stop hating each other just long enough to morn him all over the world who eles can lay claim to that.

Body dies but spirit lives. Rest in peace, man.

I do agree with Mrtrebus. He wasted some of 1990s and entire 2000s till now. He could be more productive. But whether he tried hard or not, it might be hard to get the success after the molesting scandal.

Now, he's singing with Elvis. Kings rock the heaven.

I have to disagree there, Prince is a musical genius, on a par with Stevie Wonder. & can still do a good live show at 50!!

Maybe he could have turned it around with his 02 shows, we'll never know now.

Oh, i see. :o 02 > O2. Really sorry for misunderstanding.

Those shows plus a deluxe album could work awesome. Now, we are going to have MJ golden collection albums within a year, released by Sony.

Again, rest in peace King Jackson I.

Actually, if you put your finger on any of today's popular R&B singers you'll have a 6'7" steroid monstrosity beating the living shit out of you within 3 seconds. :hatsoff:
