No we don't. Its fine that you mourn him I guess but don't assume that everyone does!!!I can't understand why anyone who was born between 1960 and 1980 would disrespect Michael Jackson. I was born in 1977. And let me tell you, everything I remember about my childhood revolved around Michael Jackson.
I remember wearing his Beat It zippered jacket and trying to copy his dance moves in the Thriller and Beat It videos.
I remember We Are The World becoming like the National Anthem to me when I was 8.
I remember going nuts when BAD and DANGEROUS were released.
I remember HISTORY being the first CD I ever bought.
Michael Jackson was a big part of my childhood and youth, and with his passing, my childhood has died with him.
I mourn Michael Jackson when in actuality I am mourning for myself.
I know all of the people of my generation feel the same way.
Michael was the true King of Pop, and only those who experienced him in his heyday could really say what an important and amazing person and artist he really was and is.
I was in disbelief and shock for well over a week. It's finally sunk in that Michael is gone forever. To be honest, I don't know how to deal with that.
I love you, Michael!
Yes there has, but we live in a much more media saturated world now.
More than 1 million seek tix for Jackson memorial
LOS ANGELES – More than 1.2 million people have now registered to get tickets for Michael Jackson's memorial service next week.
Only 11,000 tickets will be given out for the Tuesday service at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Another 6,500 tickets will be given away for the Nokia Theater overflow section next door.
The only way to get tickets is to register for free at staplescenter.com. After 6 p.m. Saturday, 8,750 names will be randomly selected to receive two tickets each.
Notifications will go out on Sunday.
City officials are preparing for massive crowds. Assistant Police Chief Earl Paysinger says anywhere from a quarter-million to 700,000 people may try to reach the arena, even though a wide area around Staples Center will be sealed off to those without tickets.
What does the media have to do with it per se? The didn't create the hundreds of millions of fans globally for MJ IMO. To me this is fairly unprecedented.

So is the huge memorial at the Staples center the funeral as well?
I have zero interest in learning about the cause of his death. I wish the Media felt the same way....
We should just be focusing on his music and influence. It seems the media is too eager to milk this tragedy for summer ratings and magazine sales...
Don't get me wrong, it's sad, especially for the family and his friends and I truly believe that the world of music has lost a great great man, but come on, people die every day, more horrible and gruesome deaths and there's more heartbreaking stories than this one.
This is the official and ONLY Michael Jackson discussion. If you want to post your memories of him, go for it. However, the disrespect and flaming that has started in the other 101 threads is just going too far.
Whatever he was accused of in life, well, if you believe in it he's gone to a higher authority to be judged. If you don't, then it's just over. No need to get disrespectful or create tons of threads about it.
