Michael Jackson -> 1958-2009

Is it over yet?!?
Can normal life resume?!?

I already resumed. I watch some of Staples Human Circus. Everybody there besides MJ fans are all fakers. Fake speeches written by PR agencies of those celebrities are sick. Same celebrities didn't give a fuck when he was alive and in trouble with the court.

MJ achieved more, financially, musically, chartably more than all the people flaming him put together.

to the people bitching about the attention he is getting, I put it to you, that when you die, you would be respected by your close ones forking out funeral costs and a memorial. I doubt it you have achieved anything as great as MJ or done a fraction as much for charity as he did, so if YOU can be afforded a funeral and memorial, accordingly, if we think proportionately, he is entitled to THIS much attention !

His memorial being in LA is boosting 5 million to the local economy helping businesses, your bitching and whining isnt really helping anyone !

quit being such haters

Why do we live in a world with such hate?! It's just sad!

This is suppose to be a day we give respect and remember the great things Michael has done FOR THE WORLD.

At least give him this day.

Good post. The financial boost to the economy from fans offsets much of the money that is already set aside in the budget for such events.

It's always losers on the internet who try to diminish what others have done.

Michael Jackson basically gave away ALL profits from his Victory & Dangerous Tours to charity. All profits from his Dangerous Tour were used in part to airlift TONS of food & medical supplies to Kosovo/Bosnia.

This besides the estimated $60-100 million DOLLARS that HIS 'We Are the World' raised for medical supplies/famine relief in Ethiopia which in turn inspired "Live Aid".

He donated heavily to at least 40 known charities(according to guinness book) & set up the "Heal The World Foundation" through which he has donated hundreds of millions to people in need(And I know I am short changing him because he has done more which there is little need to get into as it is public knowledge).

I guess Michael Jackson makes those few who keep flaming feel even more insignificant in this world than they already are.

Why does it seem like some celebrities there have no reason to be there? I mean come on, Kobe Bryant?

Because the family asked him perhaps?:dunno:

He considered Kobe a friend & there is video on youtube of Kobe speaking of that friendship/admiration & how they routinely spoke on the phone & visited in person ,watched movies together,etc...
Kobe being a teen sensation once as well probably has a lot to do with it as Michael seemed to think people like that(Brooke Shields/Tatum Oneal etc...) can understand him a little better.

The guy had less famous friends as well & I am quite sure they were present/spoke at the private memorial.

Who else do you feel had 'no reason' to be there & I will attempt to explain it:rolleyes:

That was a lovely tribute and very Moving :) when hi,s daughter said her speech that really got me :(

Michael deserves all this attention after the hard work he has done for this world. He is one of the biggest humanitarians the world has ever seen.
Berry Gordy said it right, he is the BEST entertainer that ever lived.:hatsoff:

When his lil girl got up there and said those few words she could muster, suddenly EVERYTHING in the world was put into perspective for those few second!!! :2 cents:

I love the Jackson 5
I like most of his solo stuff too.
Todays memorial was cool.
It was fitting.
(except Al sharpton?)
I don't think MJ would have wanted him up there
talking about race.
I know I sure didn't.

While I think today went over the top, in my opinion, in reality, it was probably what Michael would've wanted. He lived his life for his fans and went too far with the disfigurement.

However, you need to give him a lot more respect as a humanitarian. Have you forgotten "We Are the World"? He brought a lot of people together who normally never would've gotten together. He did more for social awareness than Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan.

Yes, everyone knows he let his PR and weirdness overtake his life since 1994 (when he married Lisa Marie Presley).

But what's it say that London was the chosen destination for his "comeback tour"?

Your town was in awe of him as my country basically is....:dunno:

was an awesome service yesterday it is amazing to see the whole world stop to morn him
when his little girl spoke it really made you stop and think for a min

Isn't a little passe' to try and judge the good works of one individual over another? We all have our own thing and our own way to help make a difference right?

Frankly, what you fail to point out in seeking to assign a hierarchy to who does better work is the fact that in the professions you cite...those individuals are paid to do what they do. MJ wasn't paid to coordinate "We Are The World", etc.

I mean, the guy holds the world record for humanitarian contributions...

It could be argued then that the guy positively impacted more individual lives, free of charge than anyone on the planet.

Don't like the guy...don't like him then...as we are free to hold such opinions. But you do yourself an intellectual disservice by acting as if his passing wouldn't (or shouldn't) command the worldwide attention it's garnered.
