Oh God, Knight Rider:eek:

Who would play Hasselhoffs character:1orglaugh
Chuck Norris. :D

The new Miami Vice:
Colin Farrel as Sonny Crockett? C'mon...
I don't believe the movie will be as good as the tv series, which influenced the style of a whole generation.

My favourite characters were Zito and Switek, always fun to watch those two. And I still remember the episode when Zito was killed. :(
And of course Gina (Saundra Santiago) was always worth looking at!

The soundtracks were great, too!

:hatsoff: Jackson

Here's a list of some good and many crap 1980s TV shows.

http://www.retrojunk.com/list_tvshows/1980/alpha-a-1/

You can sort them also by popularity, etc. Also, the upper left-hand navigation bars let you check movies, or whatnot, or you can check through '70s or '90s TV shows as well. Have fun with the retro moments!!!
 :hatsoff:

Remakes have gone way too far.
I always thought the original was too simplistic/unrealistic anyway (living in Florida).
But it sure launched a lot of mid-west housewives into the false glamor of Miami.

It's enduring popularity is owed to a very simple concept: "Marketing To The MTV Generation" ... in other words, they pitched the concept to the very generation who grew up watching MTV. and now, with the advent of the movie, they're now pitching it to not only our generation, but to a new generation as well.

Miami Vice was the first television series to feature songs by artists not normally heard on a prime time program. It set the standards for many subsequent shows, programs, and series to feature popular music as an integral part of the soundtrack rather than bland Muzak. It helped launched somewhat of a dubious fashion trend. And I can pretty much guarantee you that the Miami / Dade County areas of Southern Florida garnished quite a few tourist dollars during Miami Vice's entire five year run.

Who cares if it was "simplistic and unrealistic"? It was a t.v. show! And yes, I too, was a big fan of Crockett, Tubbs, Zwiitek, Zito, and Lt. Castillo. I'm - to this day - still a fan of Jan Hammer; the man who was responsible for creating the Miami Vice sound. In fact, I've got 'Crockett's Theme' playing even as I type this ... next up is 'Evan'.

I think it's great. I mean growing up we always saw movies being catered to other generations and now i's our turn. I was a big fan of the show until Tubbs started with his coke habit. I'm dying to see what they've done with it. It kinda has a "Bad Boys II" feel to it, so it can't be all that bad IMO.

Those are two great songs, asianxxx. I bought my first synthesizer and taught myself those songs back in 1988. I had the Miami Vice soundtrack on tape and then later on CD. lol It was a Yamaha synth I first bought and Jan Hammer was one of my instrumental heroes back then, as well as Vangelis, Harold Faltermeyer, and of course Depeche Mode and Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Kraftwerk, and several others like Tangerine Dream. Oh man, I could go on and on...

Allrighty then, mister!

How about 'Rico's Blues', 'Rum Cay', and 'The Trail And The Search'? Familiar with those?

rofl...just goes to show that if an original thought appeared in hollywood, it would die of lonliness. first "reality tv", now cheesy tv shows made into movies (as cool as it was the first few seasons, vice got a little full of itself before it got canned). wonder how far the "other" cop show of the 80's, hill street blues, is from the big-screen.
