Jack: We're down by 5, but that doesn't mean we're out of this.

Kate: Jack...you're taking this a little too seriously. Why don't you let me bat for you?

Jack: You're not batting for me, Kate. I dropped that pop fly in the 3rd, I can fix this.

Locke: How about Boone? I've got a feeling he can-

Jack: A feeling, John? A feeling? Boone's gotten out nearly every at bat.

Locke: Boone's sacrifice RBI is what the game demanded.

Sayid: Perhaps I should have a word with the umpire. I find his large strike-zone unpleasant.

Kate: We definitely don't need to torture someone over this.

Sawyer: Hell, Freckles. Why not let Hadji remind the official that the tie goes to the runner?

Jack: I'm team captain, I'm making the call.

Locke: Now, hold on a sec-

*Jack grabs Locke by the collar and makes a crazy Jack face*

Jack: What were you gonna say, John? That you should be the captain? That we should listen to you just because you think we can win this game on faith alone?

Locke: ...I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to the guys stealing our cooler.

*Ben and a few Others run off, giggling*

Michael: THEY TOOK MY GATORADE. THEY. TOOK. MY. GATORADE.

Ive been waiting since he was introduced to get the scoop on him...especially when you find out how old he is!!!!

Yeah, Richard is really the character that I'd like to know more about now. Course, with all the backstories, we already know a lot about the main characters. But with Richard, even what he is, has never really been explained. Is he good, bad, fair, unfair, a murderer, a protector/defender... and who does he really work for - Jacob or Esau/ManInBlack???

I'm hoping that he's not from the Black Rock. That would be too easy. I'm hoping that with him speaking Latin, that indicates that he's from a MUCH earlier time than the Black Rock.

And what was up with Jacob's tapestry and the Greek writing? Ancient Greek, Latin, Egyptian mythology, physics... To pick up every clue, you'd have to watch this show with a room full of PhD's! :D Great show though.

Yep, you're right. But Richard was their "advisor" (or whatever he's supposed to be) back then too. They might have chosen Latin because no matter who came to the island, what are the chances that they'd be able to speak a long dead language? So the Others would always have the drop on whoever showed up. But someone would have needed to teach them to speak Latin. Maybe Richard, or Ricardus, as Alana called him? Or maybe it was Jacob? There's a really good story there, if the writers choose to take it up. I like that sort of thing a LOT more than the soap opera "girl loves boy, boy loves girl, boy leaves girl, girl gets blown up" stuff.

My buddy (the husband of the girl that got me into this show) and I were B.S.'ing around and we came up with this elaborate theory about ol' Ricardus. We had him as a Roman soldier stationed in Egypt, fighting for Marc Antony. When Augustus' forces overran Antony's, Ricardus was severly wounded and happened upon this weird dude, Jacob. Jacob with his knowledge of ancient Greek, and all of the Egyptian symbols on the island, led us to put him in Egypt at about that time (30 BC). So Jacob agrees to heal Ricardus, but he'd have to serve Jacob's cause for all eternity and he'd never age.

Two guys, both fascinated by ancient Greece and Rome... drinking a shitload of Heinekens - that's what happens. :glugglug:  I'm sure it won't go down anything like that, but we enjoyed putting together the concept.

And if they just do a simple reset in S6 and none of what we've seen happened, or they go off on some alternate timeline, I'll switch the show off and forget that I ever saw it to begin with. That'll be my alternate timeline. :D

Nice work ReyC....you seem to have a firm grasp of a lot of the questions/answers/mythology/madness that is LOST...

Thanks. But I went to a Lost forum where the hardcores hang out, and I realized pretty quickly that I didn't know crap about this show. Those people were freeze framing scenes and actually analyzing sound bites. They scared me. I left. I slept with a pistol under my pillow for a week, afraid one of them could easily hunt me down. :D

That was awesome, I wish there was a video or something

But yeah, I hate going on those Lost forums, there are some good theories but then there's most that don't make any sense. I remember reading one where this guy was convinced Jacob was Mr. Paik (Sun's father). If that would have been true I would have just given up on the show

^^^Yeah, that's nuts. Everybody knows that Vincent is Jacob.

Honest to goodness, that was an actual theory being debated where I went. But the show is so crazy, hell, who knows? But I don't think they'd go that far, unless they got hold of some bad acid while writing the script.

I can't wait for the brand-new season.
It should be very interesting. The storylines always be interesting,
and get people into it, and always talk about it, the crazy storylines, I love it!

Yeah, me too. Why do you think I have a FO signon date of 2006? Where do you think I lurked in 2004-2005? :1orglaugh:thefinger

I have learned since 2007 that LOST truly is best enjoyed the less you know going into the season. Come at the show fresh. Use your own thinking/analysis to breakdown the show. Or just enjoy it.

I think Season 5 really was a solid season, and I really knew nothing ahead of time.

I'll be a bit sad though. This is it gang. The final season. I wonder when we'll see the first commercial for the new season? Maybe in the "V" series premiere next week?

They say there's no more to be learned about "the numbers". Well, fuck me very much, I guess.

Old post, but I figured it hasn't been said before, so just wanted to clear it up.

The meaning of the numbers was given in the Lost ARGs, called the Lost Experience.

The Alternate Reality Games mainly took the form of websites appearing between seasons Two and three, I believe. Some additional content was also released after the following seasons up till five.

The websites primarily took the form of business advertising sites for fictional companies/entities in Lost. One site allowed fans to submit an application to join the Dharma Initiative and the season five non-ARG was a travel itinerary for Ajira Airways as a promotion for the show.

The sites contained a variety of puzzles/clues for fans to work together to decipher by communicating over the internet. The designers have said that it was not intended or considered possible for one person to figure it out alone. The story of the ARGs consisted of the daughter of a Dharma member "hacking" into the system to expose a conspiracy of corruption within the organization to the public. The "leaked" information discovered by the fans was a way for the shows writers to present the history of the Dharma founders and members as part of the mythology that wouldn't be shown or relevant to the events on the show.

The only real applicable information was the meaning of the numbers 4-8-15-16-23-42.

The numbers are part of a mathematical scheme called the Vallenzetti Equation which was designed to predict the end of the world. The purpose of the Dharma Initiative was to figure out how to balance or otherwise counteract this equation from happening. This is based on a real world experiment where a scientist used a super-computer during the Cold War to predict that the world would be destroyed by nuclear war. I think his calculations figured that the end of the world was like in the 1992.
