Is Brodeur The Best Ever?

Young goalies are so hit-or-miss. remember last year when Carey Price was the toast of the league? Now, he is not even in the discussion. The game is so system oriented now that a trye measure of a goalie's impact can't be measured in stats. Boston's Tim Thomas may not make 25 saves in a game, but of those 25, 6 might be saves only a handful of guys could make.

When it comes to comparing eras, I don't like to do it. Put him on the Mt. Rushmore, but don't limit it to just 4.

Of course he is. He holds at least 10 Goalie records(maybe more), not to mention most time the Devils struggled to score 2 goals and that's DURING the championship runs as well. So he was going to stop a shitload of shots every night and be damn near perfect.

Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur are certainly the only two North American goalies from the current NHL to be considered. Adding in the goalies of the past is hard to judge... less games/debate regarding talent levels, etc. I personally would pick either Patrick Roy or Dominik Hasek even though Hasek hasn't nearly the numbers(guilty, Wings fan here).

But Marty is still going and when everything is said and done I think the media, whether right or wrong is going to baptize him as such.

I usually think of a question like this in terms of "If I had one NHL game that I absolutely had to win, who would I want as my goalie?".

I know you are going NHL but in this regard(game on the line)... at Hasek or Tretiak's best... one of the two would be my guy. :2 cents:

martin brodeur has the most regular season wins as a goalie, but that doesnt mean he is the best gaolie of all time

to make you the best goalie, you need to be the goalie that has stopped the most shots, or had the most shut outs

Brodeur has 35 more shutouts than Roy in less games and a much better GAA...just thought you would like to know....
