No thoughts on hammer throw?

Your list is sexist (and it contains two proven drug cheats)

women's hammer throw:

- Yipsi Moreno ( :iloveyou: )

- Anita Wlodarczyk (RIP :( )

- Tanya Lysenko ( :rubbel: )

- Lisa Misipeka (the first athelete from American Samoa ever to win a medal in a global competition)

Oscar Robertson? Jerry West? Kareem? Olajuwon? Hard to argue with your choices though! Lebron and Kobe are still playing so I guess they wouldn't officially count....yet. Should have made it clear they need to be retired.

Interesting. Jordan & Gretzky I agree (if you're picking the greatest in each sport). Montana? Don't think so. Maybe Jerry Rice, Jim Brown, Lawrence Taylor or Reggie White. I'd take Marino or Favre over Montana as a QB if you're speaking strictly about statistical performance. Maybe even Johnny U. And no way is Pete Rose there for baseball. If it ain't Babe Ruth, it ain't nobody.

Babe Ruth is too cliche, everyone says that. lol

I would pick Mickey Mantle over any of them, if he weren't lush and injured all the time he would have gone down as the best ever. So you're right, I can't choose Rose but the reason I did is because he played the game harder than anyone else and was a complete ball player.

Cliche?? Maybe you're being facetious because I sure don't know the "everyone" you refer to Tony but you're stoned if you really think that. He single-handedly saved baseball from the Blacksox scandal. Could have made the HOF as a pitcher or hitter. Look him up here sometime and look at his stats and then repeat your "cliche" comment. He is unquestionably the greatest baseball player who ever lived.

Not a bad list at all. Tough to argue although I would if you want to. LOL.....;)

Brooks Robinson? Ted Williams? Lou Gehrig - oh, I mean Cal Ripken, Jr. ?

Gehrig and Williams have to be in the conversation for sure. Robinson....Frank maybe but Brooks??? No way.

Greatest ever....... and Baltimore's own...

Before the "home run chase" that became the "Steroid home run chase", Cal Ripken Jr. was being credited for saving baseball after the strike of the '94 season. Sure, it's not on the same level as the Black Sox scandal, (Shoeless Joe should be reinstated, btw), but it bears mentioning.

Jagger, Babe Ruth had the luxury of playing in a day when the athletes simply werent as good, pitchers didn't throw as hard either, huuuge advantage. He may have been the best then but I don't think he could play in todays game. Even if none of the players today juiced they would kick Ruths ass imo. Same goes for old NFL players, they would get killed by the guys playing today. Nobody ever stops to consider that.

What's your source for this, Tony? Pitchers didn't throw as hard? Sorry bud, that's just inaccurate. Take a look at this list:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/393747-the-10-hardest-throwing-pitchers-in-mlb-history

If you truly believe your statements, you would also believe that Walter Johnson couldn't strike guys out, Ty Cobb couldn't steal bases and Jimmy Foxx couldn't hit home runs against today's players. :1orglaugh Hell, I could conversely make the argument that equipment and training methods weren't nearly as good when Ruth played so he would likely have been even better in today's game than he ever was when he actually played. Can you imagine if the guy had really tried to enhance his physical skills instead of boozing, smoking and eating hot dogs all the time?? The fact that you didn't live "way back when" and never saw him play somehow makes him inferior in your book. That's just your modern bias taking over I'm afraid.

You can't use the the NFL for comparison since the size of the players has increased so dramatically over the years and it was a different game (almost no passing, single-wing formations, the "flying wedge"). That's not true with baseball....it's still the same game. Babe Ruth could hit a baseball....1927 or 2013. He could strike you out too!!

Just kidding, I know that fat slob was great I just hate the Yankees.

I wish I saw that before I went to all that trouble!!
