Ahem! Tom ain't a Maia. Balrogs indeed are of the order of The Maiar, and it is quite known that Sauron was of Aulë's people, Aulë, who is the creator of the seven fathers of The Dwarves.

I didn't add The Valar or The The Maiar for they are the strongest beings in Aman, save for Erú.

I'd like to be Tom Bombadil, please.

Also, if you want to really know what the conceived history of the races of middle earth are, read The Silmarillion.

Oh you don't out geek me just due a spelling mistake lulz.....I just couldn't be arsed looking it up. Any self respecting tolkien fan has read it.

As for more books, They are really the fathers work that wasn't published like notes and various tidbits that his *** Christopher put together as chronologically and true to his ****** vision as possible.

Best further reading I find are:

The Silmarillion
Unfinished tales
******** of Hurin this is new and is really extrapolated and elaborated on more from the original tale in the silmarillion and unfinished tales.

It is actually thought to be implied that tom is in fact a incarnation of Eru.

The most common theories are:

Maiar

Maiar are affected by the ring, just like mortal beings & Tom Bombadil isn't.

Valar

The first Vala(r) to enter Arda from outside was Melkor, but Tom Bombadil already saw the night sky before the Dark Lord came from the outside.

Eru Iluvatar

JRR Tolkien said:
'There is no embodiment of the One, of God, who indeed remains remote, outside the World, and only directly accessible to the Valar or Rulers.'

I think I'm gonna make a new poll, but concerning The Ainur.

Wizards (including Sauron) & balrogs (& maybe even Tom Bombadil, although JRR Tolkien never confirmed it) are maiar.

Anyway, I think I'd choose to be a dwarf.

Dáin II Ironfoot is my favourite hero in The Dwarf Holds Mod.

I like the idea of being able to hit a flys cock with an arrow from 200m away, so id be an Elf....failing that id be of Maiar origin :D

Nor does it seem are the Istari.....Though they are Maiar they had form restrictions placed upon themshelves hence no real access to Maiar abilities.

It has been debated that Gandalf who is known as Olorin in his maiar form may have been able to match Sauron, though he being humble doubted this. Hence it was one of the reasons he was sent to middle earth.

What he couldn't or was allowed to achieve with power and brute ***** he achieved with cunning and influence on the mortal races.

If I remember correctly Sauron was counted 2nd in power, and Ólorin 3rd, while Eonwë is 1st.

When Gandolf meets up with Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimly in Fanghorn he tells them that Sauron is the only one more powerful than himself.

I just read it as I'm going through the trilogy again.

Maybe he's unaware of Eonwë or he's dead at this point? I acquiesce to you on this L3gs.
