Idiots and people who pretend to be idiots. Is there really a difference?

I'm fully aware this question might offend people that try to get offended? wut

But I'm curious as to how the line between the two is blurred in some peoples eyes.
My understanding in a nutshell without getting trivial.
Idiots post a bunch of stupid shit.
People that claim to be pretending to be idiots post a bunch of stupid shit in order to send up idiots.

Please note that I am thankful to my fellow idiots and the people who send us up.
It makes me seem like less of an idiot.
