I Know This is Unethical, But How in the Sam Hell is it LEGAL?

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
It needs to be as it appears Americans are generally unhealthier than people from the UK according to US researchers. ps You get what you pay for, even if we don't spend a penny we get acceptable (if slow) treatment for minor/non life threatening ailments and excellent treatment for life threatening illnesses and accident & emergency situations, we can also get private healthcare if we choose to pay for it and that is probably gonna be the best healthcare you can get anywhere in the world

English are 'healthier than Americans at all ages' despite spending far less on healthcare.

You can expect our health service to cease to exist if twat cameron has his way.
We'll still pay for it of course tho.

He needs to put more money into the nhs not less, maybe get rid or all the pointless middle management and make EU citizens actually pay for nhs treatment rather than hand it out free to them when they'd have to pay in their own country  I know people who have come from Goa (India) on Portugese passports (legal) and they've even got job seekers allowance and free healthcare here neither of which they got back home in India, when I asked one of my staff who is also from Goa on a Portugese passport how they could do this he said it's their right as the stupid government allows it. We can pay unemployment benefit and provide free healthcare for people that ain't even UK citizens, that's just crazy and I don't blame the poor from every corner of the planet trying to get into Britain. Come to visit our country fine, come to work in our country fine but come to sponge of us when resources are already stretched no thanks.

And yes, the U.S. does have the best health insurance in the world...if you have a lot of money.

Or if you are a member of congress or are a federal employee. In those instances, you qualify for free health care just like they have in all those backward socialist nations.

Why did you bump this thread? Not that it matters, but was just wondering.

I have t say I've changed my minde a bit about this whole thing, but then again my state takes care over everyone (maybe not the middle class. but...)I guess I have to be givena brochure ot something to develope my opinion, but I still have my opinion.

AFK..being taken to the vet to get neutered.

I suppose my question is: why am I paying the cost of them gorging themselves into this sorry, sad state?

Because that's what state funded health care essentially means. It means people can deliberately inflict any kind of physical harm or risk on themselves in the full knowledge that their fellow men will simply pick up the tab of saving them from their own actions.

The bigger question is, then: is it worth propping up pigs like this in order to serve the greater good. To ensure the poor, the disadvantaged, the working single mom with three kids, can ALWAYS see a doctor?

I am heavily conflicted on this, but I think - at the end of the day - better to keep porkers like this able to pork away, than see one kid die in the street because they couldn't get the treatment they needed to save their life from a simple infection.

It's just the article I linked was new and seemed relevant to the discussions in this thread so thought it seemed appropriate, if a new bit of info comes along I like to update existing threads rather than start new ones where possible.

This is a common problem as you always get people trying to take advantage of the system. Single mums get benefits to help them raise their child yet some just have the child for the benefits and free home, disability allowance is for people genuinely too sick to work yet some feign injury or exagerrate symptoms to qualify, jobseekers allowance is for those trying to find work but are unable to whilst some just pretend to look for work and take the money for drink/drugs/cigarettes and even things like asylum where someone who can come to this country for sanctuary when they face danger back home gets abused as people wanting a UK passport scream asylum when they are not in danger at all back home and if anything are actually criminals where they come from. Sadly people will always abuse systems but they need to stay in place so the desparately needy still get the help they need.

If you know so much about "Obamacare," break it down for me, smart guy. I never said I examined Obamacare sufficiently but was sort of inquiring about how a plastic piece was $300.

I would LOVE to see the production costs. Link? :D

Ya.. I was kidding but another factor in this crap is that medical companies (and doctors) charge more for some products (or procedures) because they contract with health insurance companies (and gov't subsidized health care) for a percentage of the total charge. For example the company that makes your $300 brace likely gets about a quarter of that from most insurance companies and less from medicare/medicaid.
