Hmm...didn't lose anything this week. Maybe half a pound. I wasn't going strong on low carb this weekend. Got invited to a delicious Boston Creme donut and McNuggets. :o Also ate other stuff like Choco Pops. So yeah this was a lost week.

I also heard the weight is going to get stuck at some point if you don't excercise. So maybe I'm also at that point now. :dunno:

201 kg
Not kg, but my chin-neck-area really looks like that, I fear. :(

I forgot to mention it's NET carbs you're looking for. You get that by subtracting grams of dietary fiber from grams of carbs. I don't know why, but that's just how it's done. I think dietary fiber takes longer to digest so negates some of the carbs.
WTF, so I'm allowed even less carbs?!

no, its really fucking fattening, which sucks ass. peanuts are a fat, so high calorie.
Yeah I know peanuts are really fat. But I didn't know they also have many carbs.

of course, if you aren't doing low cal and are atkinsing it, then you dont care about calories. but that low carb stuff is either all in or all out. you can't pussyfoot around with it.
I thought doing low carb is easier than counting calories, because you can actually eat yourself full with fat and stuff. Just not carbs. Counting calories sounds like more work and not like you can get full.

Completely agree with this. When I first started dieting, I was doing tons of googling about meals that are low calorie and filling. There were so many pages with people recommending things like nuts, seeds, peanut butter, crackers, etc. that aren't really all that low calorie, and aren't all that healthy either unless you eat a fair amount, like a cup's worth of nuts. I'd much rather eat some yogurt, fruit, or a salad that's even lower on calories and more filling, plus they have more vitamins and minerals. Heck, there was this page that recommended all these different types of snacks, like a single cracker with a bit of peanut butter, which would amount to over 100 calories. Why even bother with that?

That's why every now and then, in order to curb cravings, I go with a cup of hot chocolate. It's 80 calories and 8 g of sugar, which isn't much considering what the daily recommended intake of sugar is (added sugar, not natural sugar), and since I don't eat many sweets anymore, it hardly puts a dent in my daily allowance. Most of the sugar I eat comes from fruit.

I think it's fine to go atkins, as it can really make you lose weight, but I'd much rather choose to eat healthy, diet for my overall better health, than to cut out one single thing and still not get all the nutrients I need.
I'd love to eat some apples again, but they have so much sugar. I don't know if it's okay to eat them as snacks throughout the day instead of other food. When you count calories you can eat as much fruit as you want, but on low carb you can't eat any. Dunno what to do.

i'm eating burger king damn near weekly and never lost so much weight so fast, and stayed full longer.

i can actually eat fast food again. like a responsible person in moderation.

i even ate monster pizza. you wouldn't believe the size of that fucking thing.
Do you exercise, Squally?

Just want to point this out: He's talking about pounds, not kg. One pound is equal to about half a kg. So 201 kg vs 201 lbs is completely different.
Haha, thanks. ;)

Btw we have a German pound (Pfund) which is exactly 500g so half a kg. The Englisch pound (lbs) is around 450g. I'm at 91kg now. So that's about 200.6lbs.

WTF, so I'm allowed even less carbs?!

No, you're actually allowed more carbs. You subtract dietary fiber from carbs and that's your actual net carbs you that count towards your total. For instance, on my low carb days I use these tortilla wraps in lieu of bread. They have 18g of carbs but also 13g of dietary fiber. So 18 - 13 = 6 net grams of carbs.

And just to clarify, I'm not advocating going all out atkins where you go into ketosis (your body burns fat for fuel by default) which is usually achieved by going <20g carbs/day. I've done that and it's worked - too well. I went over a day without eating a bite and wasn't hungry in the least bit. I had to force myself to eat something. There's also a catabolic effect where you lose muscle mass and that's the last thing you want when burning calories. Limiting myself to <100g carbs 5-6 days a week doesn't put me into ketosis but it does lower my appetite (and that's the key). I have no hunger cravings or urges to snack on something. My weight has leveled out and I suppose if I wanted to lose more and get all cut I'd lower my carbs and do cardio. But I'm good where I'm at. It's cold as fuck up here and I'm not going to the beach anytime soon.

Natural sugar vs added sugar are too completely different things. What I try to go for is less than or equal to 50g of sugar per day, and that's including sugar I get from fruit. Actually, it's mostly from fruit, plus granola bars (Fiber One and Nutri Grain are the ones I get) and a few other things. The only time I add sugar to my food is with my coffee, since otherwise I wouldn't drink coffee at all without creamer and sugar. I only take in about 1/3 of my daily sugar allowance from processed foods, the rest is natural.

Check out this article: http://www.rodalenews.com/recommended-sugar-intake

Sugar from fruit is not bad. It can be good for you. And it's better than those sausages and things you mentioned you're eating, since those are loaded with fat and sodium. Sodium can make you pretty bloated since it retains water weight, making you feel and look larger than you would be if you were eating less sodium. Substitute an apple, banana, or bowl of berries once in a while in place of a snack that's processed. It'll do you loads of good. Plus fruits have fiber and vitamins that can help you gain more energy, a better digestive system, better skin, and even help curb cravings since fiber supposedly helps to make you feel full, and the sweetness of fruit can help curb your cravings for processed sweets, like candy bars and such.

Trust me. Not only do you want to look good, but it really helps if you feel good too. For about the first two weeks of my health kick, I was really hungry from the lack of carbs and consuming less calories, but I felt absolutely amazing. I hadn't lost much weight at that point, but I felt really good. So much more energy, less bloated, happier, and even my sex drive went up. My vag is wetter than it's ever been in my life.

i am fully satisfied everyday and i often get "full." never ever ever hungry. and its really easy. there's countless programs out there to keep track of calories. the carb thing never worked for me, i just ended up using it as an excuse to eat cheese.

and for exercise, rarely. but no, not really. i haven't had time for that, and when i did, it was tai chi. so, nothing cardio. thinking of starting up wii fit again though.

thats why i decided on calories. i know im not going to exercise at the moment.

I really don't understand why so many people here tell me to eat peanuts and peanut butter. I checked and peanuts have lots of carbs (at least the roasted and salted ones) and isn't peanut butter like pure sugar?

But they have a bit more protein than carbs. Its not so much the total carb intake that matters but the carb/protein ratio. (Unless you are trying to go Keto) . Protein stabilizes insulin and blood sugar. Peanut Butter is neither a protein source nor a carb source. Its mainly a fat source. Most of the fat in peanut butter is unsaturated fat, which is good fat. Fats are good for you, among other things they help with hormone levels and help keep your skin moisturized. No, it is not the same as pure sugar at all. Even if you eat too much of it, its better than eating cookies, chips, candy, and crackers. You Might also consider taking a fat burner. I prefer the non stimulants. One that worked for me well is MXLS7 made by Isatori nutrition. Or basically any fat burner that contains 7-Keto . You just have to follow the recommended dosage very carefully and do not go above it. And you may have to go a bit easier on the coffee.

Coffee is actually good for diets, unless you're loading it with creamer and sugar. It helps boost your metabolism and there have been studies that have shown people who drank more coffee were more healthy and fit than non coffee drinking folks.

I just wanna lose weight so i can fit into my old trousers (Too poor/lazy to buy new ones lol)

Good luck Vanilla Bear!

i'm pumping green tea. its more gentle, easier on the caffeine, and loaded health beneficial goodies in general. and it actually really made a difference.

but yeah, same principle. i just can't stand coffee anyway. i've always been a casual oolong and green drinker.

I used to hate coffee, and didn't start regular drinking it until about 2 years ago. I used to be right there with you, sipping on tea, especially mixed with honey and milk. I still do drink hot tea with honey from time to time in the evening, but I don't go a single morning without a cup of coffee.

Oh I agree. Coffee is usually fine as long as you dont drink too much of it and as long as you dont use any real sugar or cream, and as long as you drink plenty of water. I cant go a single morning without a cup of coffee either. But the fat burner I recommended to him is already loaded with caffeine, and drinking a bunch of coffee along with it would give him the jitters.

yeah, just never been a fan. i don't like sweet drinks and i doubt coffee tastes good by itself without all the creamer and sugar. but i really love the taste of plain tea. its the asian part of me. i grew up drinking chinese teas and have never shaken that habit. nor do i want to! im drinking tea right now even!

people find it strange when they wake up and ask where the coffee maker is and i tell them i dont have one. Sabrina Deep had to settle for tea at my house.. i didn't even think of it. luckily, she likes tea. she even gave us a really awesome mug to keep. but it is quite a shock for my guests. in fact, i might even have one in the garage now what i think about that my mom bought to have coffee with when she visits. hmm...

Congrats. So what did it? Cut out the cookies? Shave your back? Drag your flabby ass out of the house and do some moving about? Seriously, what did you do?

No, not my back. Only my ass.

Actually, I had a penis reduction surgery. Your sister always cried it was too big. :dunno:

Seriously, the first couple of weeks I ate (almost) no carbs. That way I lost about 1.5 kg a week.

After a couple weeks that started to be annoying as hell so I started eating a little more carbs again (still no sweets, pasta, potatoes or fries - only rice and dark(er) bread) and just tried not to eat as much as I used to. That way I lost about 0.5 to 1 kg a week.

I ate lots of fruit as snacks. I knew that were lots of carbs, but at least barely any calories and healthy. I tried to stay away from raffinated sugar though.

By now I eat almost everything again. (Still barely any pasta or potatoes though - But I plan on commiting some sins throughout the FIFA world cup :D) Just not as much anymore. I'm full quicker now.

Now I'm where I am. Next step is to start excercising to build up muscles. Currently I'm just a lean guy with a little belly and neck-chin left. :o

PS: When I say I didn't eat any sweets or other "bad" things then I mean except for very few exceptions on more or less special occasions. Like on my birthday I bought the biggest pizza I could get at Pizza Hut and a sixpack donuts and a large iced tea at Dunkin' Donuts. I don't know if I felt guilty or something, but I felt kinda sick to my stomach while eating all that. (But I think it was for a different reason) So I couldn't even eat it all at once. Ate it over two days. And since I didn't eat anything else on those two days it wasn't that bad, I think.

And I still lost weight that week. ;)
