Thanks for all the input, peeps.
Okay, it's two and half weeks now. After two weeks I have lost around six and a half pounds.

And I only played football (soccer) once for 90 minutes in that time! So it was mostly due to the reduced carbs.
There were two ideas here in the thread. Some people said I should throw out all the candy other said I should keep it to know I can have it whenever I want. Well I don't want to throw away candy so I just left my Milka Tender in the fridge. It wasn't easy the first days, but it's still there! I didn't eat it! I'm going to eat it just before it expires. I'm still craving it a lot, but seeing that I have lost weight since not eating any candy gives me the power to withstand the temptation. I just don't buy new things. Which is really hard sometimes. My local supermarket has one really big sweets department. And now they also offer one of my favorite chocolate bars with WHITE chocolate!!! And I love white chocolate! They say it's available for only a short time. Maybe I'll buy some of them and try it once I lost enough weight. I said to myself once I reached my "goal" of ca. 180lbs (I'm about 207 right now) and I'm able to do sports regularly - to keep that weight - that I can eat whatever I want again. I will start hitting the gym in april or so when I can afford it. My fucking vodafone 3g flat is finally running out in april so I can use that money on a gym. Right now I can't so I can only try to lose weight by reducing the carbs.
I so knew something like that was coming! But I posted it anyway and just waited for it.
Also, once you start eating better, it's addicting.
I don't know about that. I think chocolate and foods with lots of carbs are addicting. Veggies aren't for me...
Also, you gotta have some
willpower! 3 days? C'mon, man!
Yeah, I know!!! I was suprised myself how though it was for me at the time I opened the thread! But like I said, I didn't eat the damn thing or any other sweets since then.
One thing I found that helps with sweet cravings is to drink some hot chocolate.
Oh god, no, that's almost pure sugar. Also the milk has lots of sugar as well. I didn't know it was so much. Made me a banana shake and already regretted it while I was drinking it. It was just milk and banana. Nothing more. But still I probably won't do it again too soon. I just fancied (not craved) it for a change and thought it tastes good, has vitamins and calcium in it and I can replace a meal with it. No I couldn't. And it didn't even taste that well.
So what I've done is allow myself a healthier carb with my dinner, which is usually either couscous or rice. Stay away from pasta and bread.
Absolutely. Well I never had couscous to be honest, but I have a little bit of rice every now and then to go with some meals. But really just a tiny bit.
I've been eating mostly yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, a ton of fish sautéed in lemon and garlic, fruit smoothies, granola bars, and salad.
For a couple days I replaced candy with apples and bananas, just to have some sweet taste in my mouth, especially after a meal. But fruits contain way too much sugar. Yes, they are healthy, but really not too good for a diet. So I just eat them every now and then.
Try to stay away from too much cheese too
Well I don't eat that much cheese anymore. Just that nice gratinated fish I found and like and I have to put some parmesan on my rucola (I think you call it rocket salad).
Oh and try
this. It's a calculator based on your age, weight, height, gender, and amount of exercise, telling you how many calories you should eat per day to either lose or maintain your weight, based on the information you enter. Most of the time, all you hear is, "Based on a 2000 calorie diet." That doesn't hold true for everyone. For me, I should be eating about 1500 calories per day to maintain my weight, and about 1200 to lose weight. Yours will be different. Just take a look at it, and try to stick to it if you can.
Thanks for that, but I'm not counting calories. I'm just trying to count my carbs. I'm still eating fat since, like some pointed out, it's good for the taste and keeps you full longer than just veggies and stuff.
Also, another trick: Instead of eating three full meals a day, try having several small snacks throughout the day and eating one full meal at night. I've pretty much always done that, but with this diet I found that it can be really helpful because if I eat more in the morning and afternoon, that gives me very few calories to work with in the evening, which is the worst time to feel hungry, as it's difficult to sleep on a hungry stomach. Try to hold off on your hunger too much until the evening.
Oh yes, I hear you. Going to be sleep on a hungry stomach is mean! And that's a good advice. I try to eat only one or two full meals a day - one in the morning and one in the evening - and have a sausage or something every now and then throughout the day to not feel like starving.
Oh fuck it, being thin is for losers. Us chubby guys show we can provide for ourselves. Why do I have ice cream in the freezer, beer in the fridge and chocolate in the cupboard? Because I can fuckin' afford too! I pass homeless guys on the street everyday, they're all rail-thin.
Haha I think those times are long gone when being a little "bigger" said you can afford food. Especially since all the stuff that makes you fat (carbs) are so cheap. So the cheaper food can make you fat while eating "healthy" (diet-wise) is way more expensive.
So the best is to go to the Psychiatrist to review your condition and recommend some pills against thus obsessive conduct.
Oh no, not more meds! They're one of the reason I gained so much weight in the first place!
I was planning on being all healthy and no more candy this year, but I had so much chocolate left over from christmas it was impossible. i fail!
Aww, wanna cuddle? :lovecoupl
1. be ready to drop the weight. you will never do it until you are truly ready.
2. give yourself a phrase that will keep you on track. when you think you're gonna fuck it up, think it. it better be a good one.
3. figure out what you need and eat less than that. go on the web, look it up and do it.
1. I am.
2. Dunno if I have a phrase, but I know I can do it and - like I said - I say to myself that once I have reached the mentioned weight and I'm doing sports regularly then I can reward me again. So I know it's not forever.
3. Only doing less carbs. Looks like it's working.
once you're ready, you'll do it. if not, you'll fuck around.
That's true.
My weight gains have come from pasta and potatoes. Stuff that fills the gut.
Yeah tell me about it. It's cheap and fills the gut. That's why it's so much more expensive to go witout carbs.
I've used the chef salad as a substitute. A meal prepared without cooking. Toss whatever you want in like chicken or sliced beef or pork. Remember that you are making a salad. Lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, celery, all have to be in there. Make it as big as you want and I am sure that you will fill up before the bowl is empty. Drizzling some dressings in there won't hurt. You will eventually come to that taste with texture combination that is good for you.
Yeah this is so right. I love a nice chef salad or rucola. Either with some ham rolls with the chef salad or chicken with the rucola. And as dressing I merely use olive oil and either wine vinegar for the chef salad or balsamic vinegar for the rucola.
You've also got to get out of the house and work some of your fat off. Buy a basketball and find a hoop. It doesn't matter how athletic you are, just bounce the ball and shoot it. Don't have the money for a basketball or can't find a hoop? A handball smacking it off a wall will do the same thing. That's what I do. The simple act of chasing down the balls that get away gets your legs moving.
This was actually a fantastic idea as I can't afford the gym right now. I was even about to order a bball on amazon already, but then I went to the "court" right outside my door and it just sucked donkey balls. I always wondered why nobody is playing on that. Because the ground is just sand and bumpy. You can't play on that. And I don't wanna go to another place, because I wanna play on my own and where other people can't see me how I suck. I'd just have done it on "my" "court", because it's a little hidden and just one hoop. Too small for other (more) people. But well, I'll just have to wait until april. I would love to play soccer more often, but I only know my brother and his friends where I can play along and they play once a week MAX. Sometimes even less.
(...) low carb (<100g/day) (...)
Thank you so much for the actual amount!!! I've always been wondering how much LOW carb is actually. Less then 100g or 50g or what? Now 100g is nice. Since I started I've always been way below that! Maybe except for when I had a banana and an apple a day. But that's not so much of the "evil" sugar.
I try not to eat things that contain more than 10% of carbs. (according to the nutrition labelling) Except for some rice every now and then.
Sorry to spam but I didn't mention the obvious: exercise. A calorie deficit is needed to lose any weight but the trick is to keep your metabolism up which is where exercise comes in. I hate traditional cardio (running, biking, aerobics etc) so I've just done weight training but you can limit your time between sets and exercises to keep your heart rate up.
Yeah since I can't afford the gym, I thought about jogging, but I can't due to my knees. I wish I had more friends to play soccer with. I love it and it's a good "workout". Well like I said, I'll start hitting the gym or doing another sport from april on. I'll just have to look what I can afford.
You fuckers better be eating donuts by tomorrow morning. YOLO Bitches, YOLO.
Haha, yeah yolo! That's why I WANT to lose weight. It's not, because I wanna eat more healthy or something. I am healthy when it comes to that. I get my blood checked regularly and all my values are good. Even cholesterol and stuff.
I just feel ugly being overweight. That's why I do it. I wanna die good looking.
3 . Replace fizzy drinks with water, this is a no brainier, will save you a lot of time and bad health.
Done that a long time ago already. Except for around christmas when I allow me a nice Vanilla Coke and some Virgin Caipirinhas.
I tried to drink some peppermint tea lately to have some taste, but plain water is better as black tea makes the teeth darker. :o
5 . When the cravings kick in you'll find it hard to focus on anything else. During these times dont partake in any activities you enjoy, instead lie down and do nothing, the aim here is to try to associate the craving with boredom, eventually you will get bored of lying there doing nothing, and in turn get bored of the desire for sugar. You also dont want to associate anything you enjoy with the cravings.
This sounds good and logical, but is really not easy. But well the bad thing isn't the craving anymore, it's the general hunger. So like I said, I just try to get rid of that by eating little snacks.
I can't keep any sweets in my house or I'll just eat it till its gone.
Funny, if I had you in my house I ate you till you
came. Is that a coincidence?
I eat a lot of healthy deli sandwiches though, I try to stay away from lots of grease.
Sorry, but what are deli sandwiches? Are Subway sammiches deli sandwiches? If so then I can't eat them right now either. The bread is full of carbs. And it's white flour. That's a killer for that diet.
Of course such sammiches are awesome and at least not unhealthy. But they don't really help with a diet either.
