horror movies

100% agree! I hate when people present their opinion as fact. I like Rec better and you enjoy Quarantine more. It's just a good thing that we both enjoyed the respective movies right :) I actually watched Rec with the dubbing (for the first one) and subtitles for the second one (still have to see the third). I do recommend you watch finish Rec. It ties in very nicely with the second one. I am gonna eventually watched the second Quarantine, but I haven't heard much good about it :(

Btw, Sinister looks really enjoyable to me. I loved Insidious and it looks to be along those lines.

I agree ! The important thing is that we enjoyed the movies.... and I definately will need to re-visit REC and it's sequels and give them a complete viewing till the end. Especially since it has now been recommended by a fellow horror film enthusiast :) !

Yeah the Quarantine 2: Terminal wasn't great IMO. The story-line was thin, and, for me, it has the same troublesome theme of the illegal secret detainment and execution of American citizens by the government using CDC disease control as a justification . Also it wasn't in the "lost footage format" which turned off some people who liked the first one. But it's still worth a viewing if you get a chance !

Yeah Insidious was cool, and Sinister looks very promising as well, esp. since it was made by the same producer ! Additionally, Happy Canadian Thanksgiving :glugglug: !!!

What really pissed me off with Quarantine was that in the behind the scenes interviews on the DVD the filmmakers pretended that it was an original movie. No one said a word about it being a remake of a spanish movie.

Cabin In The Woods was one of my favs this year. I didn't watch it as a horror though. It had horror elements, but I don't think it was meant to be scary or creepy, like Sinister.

It wasn't a very good movie, but it was a good idea. Here's an example of something Joss Whedon did that does makes a movie cool:

Thor: Have a care how you speak! Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard and he is my brother!
Natasha Romanoff: He killed eighty people in two days.
Thor: He's adopted.

That's great dialog on several levels. Cabin In The Woods didn't have anything like that, although it came close a few times.

It was a good swing, but a miss.

In terms of 'found footage' movies, there was another before Blair Witch, called "The Last broadcast", which is scary as fuck!

I've caught a couple recently that I didn't mind, and actually found a tad scary in their own way. "Yellowbrickroad" and "The Innkeepers". I thought both were nice little flicks, though I have to admit to liking Innkeepers way more.

I actually enjoy writing and making horror flicks more than watching them. Re-vamping a zombie movie for spring release right now, and then starting on an anthology horror movie and a slasher in the spring. Whee!

I've actually heard of "The Last Broadcast"...I believe it's more of a mockumentary than a true "lost footage" movie...But Im going to try to watch tonight or tomorrow since you said it was good !

And making horror flicks sounds like an very interesting hobby, although expensive....perhaps you can post one of your zombie projects here if you get a chance !

Yeah Rhyno the Excorcist is a great movie !... I haven't seen Cabin In The Woods...I've heard mixed reviews about it.

Caught the end of Seventh Moon the other night...I have to watch it again from the beginning to see what it was really about, but what I saw looked pretty cool, plus it starred Amy Smart who makes me horny every time I see her :D !

LoL Eric I hate Amy Smart, but the movie looks decent. If I get a chance I'll check it out! I planned on watching a lot of horror this month, but work has been so crazy I haven't been able to yet. I still haven't gotten around to re-watching The Exorcist like I said I was last week.

That's pretty cool. I wrote some music for some students who were doing a gangster/thug/zombie movie spoof a couple years ago, but I don't think it ever got finished.

WHAT  !! This scene from Road Trip (funny ass movie) is imprinited on my brain !.... granted she didn't age that great and her performance in Crank: High Voltage was a little over the top borderline raunchy/skanky....but...... I'D HIT IT :drool2: !!!

Here's the leaked trailer for the Evil Dead remake coming next year. Evil Dead has been my number one favorite horror film so this trailer does to me what the Phantom Menace trailer did for all those geeks back in the 90s. I know for a lot of people in their 30s and late 20s that the Evil Dead franchise might just be their favorite horror franchise too. Here's hopping the remake doesn't turn out like Phantom Menace or that Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.

Wow ! ..still no love for Amy Smart !?!?..Guess it's just me then :) ! ...Watched The Last Broadcast awhile ago.....a shock ending in 1995 is not quite the same as a shock ending in 2012.

I've seen A Haunting in Connecticut a few times...not a big fan of it because it's allegedly based on a real story, but the movie goes way overboard in terms of what allegedly actually happened...I've also seen two different documentaries based on the same events...Each documentary had the same basic story, but involved enough contradictions and conflicting statements from the mother and others involved to make me suspicious of the whole deal...On a sadder note though, according to a recent story that they did on the case on Paranormal Witness, the actual "Haunting In Connecticut" boy who had cancer died recently from a relapse of his cancer...I think he was in his 30's

Conjuring looks cool, and the Evil Dead re-make looks super-cool ! (although won't be better than the original) ...I love how the crowd was going wild in the theater when the preview came on ! That's always my favorite thing about boot-legs...crowd participation...makes you feel like you're right there in the action :D !

Speaking of being right in the action, watch out for the 3-D version of Silent Hill: Revelations coming out for Halloween...looks pretty cool too !

Grave Encounters 2 was sooo disappointing!

I am very pumped for Silent Hill: Revelations. Loved the first one! This one looks a little convoluted, but who knows. Fingers crossed it's awesome!

I was thinking the same thing about Silent Hill: Revelations by looking at the trailer...but still will be fun to watch...Also I watched Planet Terror again last night ...Not scary, but a very fun and cool horror movie with a good cast and nice special effects !

I will certainly check out "The Innkeepers". Been debating doing so for some time. Additionally, "Tales From the Cypt: Bordello of Blood" will be on Netflix Instant November 1st. Highly recommended for those who enjoy good "bad" movies.

Watched this cool re-make of the cult classic The Eye starring the sexy Jessica Alba...Check out the orginal and the-make if you haven't already :) !
