horror movies

Been on an H.P. Lovecraft kick lately...watched Necromonicon the other night...pretty cool... Special costumes were awesome and story was decent...But my All-time favorite Lovecraft horror film is Dagon...Definately a cult classic IMO !

To each their own. I'm glad you enjoyed it :) I only really liked the final segment. The fourth one had one jump scare, which was more than 1,2 and 3. The second segment was the worst...25 mins long an it felt like 3 hours lol.

The main reason I liked it is because it's not what you would expect. Each story had a twist. Each story had you watching and when it got to a certain point for each, I would look at the screen with a twisted expression. Like the webcam story... I did not expect it to pan out that way! Basically, VHS isn't your totally typical "realistic" horror movie, which I like.

Thread has been dormant too long. Anyway, those with Netflix Instant can watch "The Tall Man" directed by Pascal Laugier of "Martyrs" fame. Be advised, however, the film is not really horror, despite it's director's pedigree, and going in with that expectation could pose problems. It's not a bad film, just not what I was expecting. Furthermore, on October 1st "Slither" will be available for streaming and I will absolutely watch it again and encourage anyone who has not seen it to do so as well.

Almost October month! Time to pick out some favs to watch :D

:yesyes: 31 days of HALLOWEEN :banger: !!!

Watched Children of the Corn and Husk last night...I have no idea how corn ever became associated with horror, but somehow these flicks work for me soooo...I guess it's all good :zombie: !!

Yeah, I was excited for The Tall Man until I saw the trailer. Not what I wanted to see lol.

As for Slither, I was gonna watch it a few times and then never. I know Jenna Fischer (Pam from The Office) is in it, but is it just like a cameo/quick death or is she actually a decent role in the movie?

Yes, Jenna is mostly just in the film just to be killed. Gross misuse of her talents. On the plus side, Elizabeth Banks is featured prominently and she has a southern accent so that adds a little something extra.

...and most importantly, Nathan Fillion plays the lead role. Why he´s not the biggest movie star in the world is a complete mystery.

Probably because he is best suited to B movies :D Haha sorry, I can't stand the guy so I had to take a dig (I really don't find him a good actor though).

Well I went to see The Possession. It was so boring :( A half decent story and the acting was good enough, but no scares.

I liked it. But I'm a sucker for these religious/horrors. Did you see it in theatres? People were shitting themselves when I saw it. Screams and jumps and OMG's.

Sinister looks alright. I'll check it out.

October!! Best time of the year!! Dusk TV, formerly Scream Network usually gives a free trial during October. Can't wait!

I love those movies too (The Last Exorcism most likely my favorite). But my theatre honestly did not get a fright. Especially when it showed the demon, it was so corny. I thought it was a poor, poor movie. I used to hate when people would say people at their theatre laughed at some horror movies, but mine was actually full of corny laughter throughout.

Watched "Lovely Molly" yesterday. Not the worst, not the best. Gretchen Lodge, who plays Molly, does a very good job and the movie has the right atmosphere for this type of film. It just feels like it never "pays off". 7 out of 10.

Thanks! I think I asked here before if anyone had seen it. I guess I'll give it a shot.

Paranormal Activity 4 is coming out on October 19! Who's excited?! :D ME!

PA is my favorite horror series (After the Nightmare series), but the trailers so far suck. So I am hoping it's like PA3 and none of this is in the movie. I couldn't wait for part 2 and 3, same with this one, but not because it looks good. But I won't see it 'til January when it's on BLu-Ray because this is a movie to watch at home at 3 a.m. (where you really have to hear everything, can't at the theatre).

And for some reason Harley, I thought you would hate the PA movies lol. I am just as excited for Grave Encounters 2, but you didn't like the first :p

That trailer looks like it was directed by Lars Von Trier. I'll definitely check that shit out.

The PA franchise is entering the 'milk that cash cow' stage, but I'll give them my money. My mom loves that series, so I'll have to treat her. I like the movies, but I like seeing my mom jump out of her skin even more.
