I know the impeachment happened in 1998, but my point remains; Gingrich's attempt at ruining Clinton only served to make Clinton more endearing to the public.

And Congress might always have lower numbers than the President, but Gingrich never had an approval rating above 50% during his entire tenure as Speaker and had a disproval rating during the government shutdown that was well into the sixties. Watch the Republicans try to sweep those numbers under the carpet.

Near 50% approval ratings are fantastic for any member of congress. His negatives during the shutdown were never as bad as Clinton's. Anyway, Gingrich has some work to do. And if he introduces a clear and concise (and workable) plan to get this economy back on track he has a shot at winning.

Gingrich is a shit candidate and when the media start telling the truth about him rightwingers are going to bellyache and moan about how the "lamestream" media are "biased against conservatives". A better plan would be to find someone that's not such a douchebag.

The good news for the Gingrich campaign is that his dirty laundry has been aired many years ago and many times.

You are right about one thing, they will attempt to smear him and will leave no stone unturned to achieve that. Of course they didn't feel the same need to delve into Obama and his associations during his run the first time. Gingrich will not play nice like McCain did. I hope he wins the nomination, because he will give the Obama campaign all they can handle. I am looking forward to it.

I seriously wouldn't doubt it if she is a VP pick. There is no way she will get the main vote but her attractiveness and appeal to women alone could see her picked as VP runner.

The Repubs won't run a woman as veep 2 election cycles in a row. Bobby Jindal is a distinct possibility. And Marco Rubio would lock up the Florida vote.
