So what? Ph.D's are a dime a dozen on any university campus. Funny how Gingrich having a Ph.D makes him smart but "liberal academics" are a constant source of right-wing belly-aching. For that matter, where are Gingrich's records?
Magna Cum Laude law school grads are a dime a dozen in my profession. I have 4 or 5 each year seeking positions at our firm. Presidential candidates usually don't have to release financial or academic records until they are the nominee. I received my LL.M. By those standards, Obama's education pales to mine.
I have no desire to seek political office. One thing I am sure of about Bill Clinton, he does not hand out compliments just to be nice.
We could argue Gingrich's intellect all day. I will go with the opinions of Krauthammer, Will, Buckley and Clinton and you can continue to assert that Gingrich is not intellectually gifted. Pretty sure you are in the minority in that assessment.
Really? They downplay it? I would love to see evidence of rightwingers saying that it is not important. I think you are confusing perceived bias at universities as disdain for academia.
“You say to somebody, you shouldn’t go to work before you’re what, 14, 16 years of age, fine. You’re totally poor. You’re in a school that is failing with a teacher that is failing. I’ve tried for years to have a very simple model,” he said. “Most of these schools ought to get rid of the unionized janitors, have one master janitor and pay local students to take care of the school. The kids would actually do work, they would have cash, they would have pride in the schools, they’d begin the process of rising.”
Hey guess what.. I attended a private school and that's exactly what me and my brother and sister did. We worked cleaning the school afterwards to help with the tuition. Just admit that you don't like Gingrich and you are looking for anything to discredit him. Now this is the second or third time there has been a Herman Cain thread and it has either turned into a Gingrich bashing fest or I have spent way too much time defending him when he doesn't need defending.
If all those who hate Gingrich have is that he left his dying wife or he is fat, I like his chances. There has been no discussion about policy differences or ideological differences with him. Just ad hominem attacks.
Somebody is worried about Newt Gingrich challenging Obama. Even more worried than I thought.
Will, no offense but if you and the rest of the nutjob faction of the republican party want to run someone third party and promise you will leave the republican party for good, I will accept the fact that Obama wins a second term knowing that we have at least rid ourselves of your whining asses in 2016.

I am not from any party. I am not a "nutjob" faction from the GOP. They are not the Republican party.
There are other people to vote for. You might want to take a better look at the ballot this time around.
There should be a Third Party debate. But... you know how the media is.
What makes anyone think Gingrich is smart? :dunno:
Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar and Obama went to Columbia and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard. If you're basing Gingrich being smart on his academic career, he's really nothing outstanding.
In love this, here Ron Paul is squeaky clean and appears to be the best representative for the majority of Americans, both democratic and republican and these fixed "debate" panels aren't even giving him the time of day.
Fuck you, cheater bastards!
This system is so biased and corrupt, it makes me wanna vomit just the same as today's weakling twenty somethings want a free rid off the gumment.

I don't think that Gingrich's academic credentials or his intellect will play as much of a role in his future success (or failure) as will his past ethics problems. And he's got more of those than Carter has liver pills. If someone asked Gingrich who his favorite President was, I wonder if he'd say Andrew Johnson. :1orglaugh He is where he is right now only because every other Republican "horse" in the race has stumbled badly. I've joked in the Formula One thread that if my guy, Lewis Hamilton, isn't going to win, I cheer for ABA (Anybody But Alonso). And that's what the Republicans are doing now, only they're backing ABR (Anybody But Romney). But what the Republicans are going to have to face, sooner than later, is do they want Obama out or do they want one of their bona fide "conservatives" as their nominee? IMO, GOPers have an either/or choice to make. Because I don't see Gingrich, Bachmann, Perry, or the others that the TEA Party has blessed, beating Obama (or Daffy Duck) for the Presidency.
But hey, maybe all those polls are creations of the lamestream, communist, socialist, Muslim sympathizing, welfare ghetto trash loving, left wing media. :dunno: Maybe Newt can join hands with Michele Bachmann as his Veep and win in a 70/30 landslide. I don't know - maybe. Maybe not here, but maybe... somewhere...
Don't worry about Newt, if you recall several years back, he went out on the road to accompany Hilary when she was pushing her "Hillary Care" agenda, also, the Newt has recently coupled with Nancy Pelosi on a radio commercial that advocates a green renewable resource energy plan. At ease, Newt will accommodate the left rather nicely, if you let him.
After you kept insisting he was "smart". I asked if that was your metric. At any rate it doesn't matter. Facetious makes an excellent point three posts above.
