I have heard this sort of thing before. Some dance club or brothal here in the USA decided to raise money for a Charity and the Charity turned away a $5000 check. People who care to give shouldn't be seperated by middle men from those that are in need.

I agree however I will respect their choice. Good thing there are a lot of charities who will take donations without issues.
