The fact is, no matter what anyone wants, or thinks, it WILL come down to, don't question us, we did what we did because thats the way we do it, if you don't like it, you don't have to come here. I'm a mod on a different board, and I can assure you, sometimes people will just be fuckers, for the sake of it. The mods here are very private about what they do, because thats what their boss wants, and they were most likely picked for the job, because they're willing to do what needs to be done. At the board I mod at, we motherfuck the members right back, it's just that way there...this board isn't, it's not a bad thing, it's just different. We have a section no one else is able to get into, and we don't share everything, you can't really, because you will always get someone pissed about it, even though it will be something no one normally would get pissed about. You will always find someone willing to jump on your shit, for doing what needs to be done to someone else. Some of the rules, I'm sure are left up to interpretation, some aren't. Bandwidth cost money, if everyone posted pictures, or had bigger av's, the costs would increase daily, why you're only allowed 5 links, is beyond me, but they don't bitch about 4 posts in a row. The mods here aren't the worst I've ever dealt with, some of them probably don't really like deleting posts because of content, but thats what they agreed to do, so they do their job. It could be worse, of course, it could be better, what are you gonna do, it is what it is, like they say, no one is forcing anyone to come here.

As for the original question...yea, I think becoming mods has changed at least some...I won't say who. One thing is for damn sure the lastest batch of mod promotions has changed the entire board.

I honestly don't see how you could become a mod and not be changed by it, at least where your board persona is concerned. They have to look at everything differently. It's really a sacrifice that these members are making. I don't know how things are run amongst them exactly, but I imagine where once they would mosey along to Freeones and just click links that caught their interest, now they are obliged to go through countless threads and scrutinize every post. I'll bet it takes at least some of the enjoyment out of the board and I'm not at all surprised that after becoming mods those members post less.

Speaking from experience, I can faithfully remark that both my mood and attitude have suffered no unpleasant undulations or noticeably detrimental loss of amicableness since having become mod here at FreeOnes, and to verify this, look no further than my "rep power" tally which has clearly been riding hard and heavily on a flat-line since Clinton was in office (and even way before his conscience had been seduced by the notion of digging trenches throughout New York the State, not the un-mechanized City of the same name).

I like this thread. I think it has given some much needed interaction and clarification on issues that a lot of members have. And so far has generally remained flame free, which shows that it is possible to have this kind of thread be successful.
It can be said that mods are biased. I think that is why there are many of them, instead of just one, so that it will be more fair.
it seems that some people are trying to intentionally provoke the mods as a form of protest to make a point, but that doesn't prove anything other than that a member is flaming which they deserve to be reprimanded for.
