First of all, for now, this thread won't be locked, for now. The reason these type of threads get locked is because how we do things really isn't up for public debate. If threads about someone getting banned, why a certain was choosen over another to become a mod, if mod A is being fair, ect ect is left open it becomes a flame fest. People get infractions or banned and general hard feelings are gotten all around. Plus, I've seen boards where this type of thing is allowed to go on. It's not welcoming and doesn't put that board in very good light.

As to becoming a moderator. Does it change a person? I don't know, does becoming a representive of a company change how a person has to act? In my experience, yes, it does. The same goes for moderators. They have to enforce the rules of this board and they have to represent Freeones in general. If they don't feel they can act the way they did prior to becoming a mod, then that's their decision.

Yup. Just like every day, common employees getting promoted to managers at a typical office job, they have a job that they have to do...like it or not. Some are better than others and that's just part of life. Hell, I didn't like most of my managers but I had to do what they said. Sucks, but oh well...we can all get over it.

The only new mod I have any interaction with is MiniDog and no she has not changed.She is the same little feisty dog that takes a chunk out of me every time I try to give her a bone in the Film/TV game.
Has there been a reaction probably over-reaction by some regarding one or more of the new mods, I think there has.I will just leave it at that as I do realize that this is not something the mods want discussed publically for good obvious reasons.I think if anyone sees something they think inapproriate they should address it in a PM to a mod which I think is what the mods would say as well.But I haven't seen anything personally that says becoming a mod has changed the new mods or Freeones for that matter.

Yes you change when you become a Mod because your responsibilities have changed. So you don't have the time to post as many opinions in threads that you might like to, which is obvious to educated people. But we know that that's not the reason why this thread was started, which is also obvious to educated people. Maybe a better question should be "Has a large post count changed the attitude of some members?"

Could it be that once a few select members get a few thousand posts under their belt, they think that they should be treated differently and the rules shouldn't apply to them like the rules apply to someone with only 100 posts? Could it be that when they get corrected by a Mod, they are so offended that a person with there status was edited that suddenly there are problems with the Mods not problems with what they did? Could it be that they think that they can post what they want regardless of rules and not have it edited, as stated by a member above?

This is no different than a year ago and a year ago before that and a at least once in every year that I've been here. Established members who feel that they've been wronged attempt to cast dispersions on the Mod crew. It is what it is. As a Mod, you expect to get kicked in the teeth because no one likes to be told what they can or can not post. We've seen it in the past and it will no doubt occur again in the future and the results will be the same. Look to the past to know what those results are.

So, yes when you become a Mod you change. Maybe your ego also changes when you become a Mod, but there may be no bigger ego changes than those of a member who has achieved their status as an "established member". The board's history is littered with their closed accounts.
