Greatest "ROCK" Album Ever

Re-read my post. I said theres no denying that AC/DC was fucking EPIC in Rock history. I didn't say that everybody has to love them. But you have to at least acknowledge how they left their mark on classic rock, and influenced a ton of other bands.

Influence doesn't mean anything if you are influencing shit bands.

KoRn influenced a shitload of bands too. Are they undeniably legends in rock and roll history?

AC/DC had some good riffs though. Great live too.

BTW. What's with all the metal albums being named? Dream Theatre? Metallica?

My favourite rock albums would be...

The Rolling Stones - Aftermath
The Beatles - White Album
Clutch - Robot Hive/Exodus
Pearl Jam - Ten

I'm not going to try not to say anything that would get me banned. A lot of bands that were playing when AC/DC was copied AC/DC's style at times to revamp their sound. For example listen to some of the less popular Def Leppard albums from 80-84. Ozzy, Kiss, Van Halen, and Metallica have all stated at one point that AC/DC is a monument to Rock/Metal (I'm paraphrasing here). Next you're going to tell me that Kiss sucks and was worthless and did nothing for rock, aren't you. Before you do, please note that Gene Simmons found Van Halen and loaned them the money to produce their first album, which is one of the best (and highest selling) Rock albums of all time. If you look in the CD book you'll notice that there's a "very special thanks" to Gene Simmons and KISS; and that's what it's referring to. Also, Kiss helped Motley Crue find good people to work with in the music industry. And lest we forget that by 1986 Kiss had outsold The Beatles. Why is this important? Because if Kiss, who did all this, can give props to AC/DC then they obviously aren't some shit band, and AT THE VERY LEAST they deserve more respect than you are giving them. They have over 20 top hit songs, Back in Black hit Diamond level sales in '87 (so did Appetite For Destruction!), and they started producing their own albums starting with Flick of the Switch (they even drew the artwork on that one!).

Rock N' Roll HALL OF FAME- March 10th, 2003. FOR A FUCKING REASON.

I'm going to have to go with the hardest rocker of them all! Kenny G!

You can't get more hardcore than that.

Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger.

Looking at all of the posts so far the 2 albums that crop up in all of the posts are "Back in Black" by AC/DC & "DSOTM" by Pink Floyd.
Can anyone be bothered to acually get some sort of auto calculation poll thingy going which works out on a post by post basis which is in the lead? I'm sure there must be someone with the technical wizardry to do it.

As good as Back in Black is I don't know if it's eclectic enough to warrant "best of all time." DSOTM is a little more diverse sounding. I think honestly we'd have to recognize the Beatles catalog as the best and also holding the best album of all time, probably Sgt. Peppers.

Truth be told, the best album - or our "favorite" album - would be like our kids: how could we choose one over the other?
