and yet you say The Clash were sex pistols wannabes...

and you also said Iron Maiden couldnt be in this poll because they are heavy metal... and yet Black Sabbath is in it?

yeah, you're well fucking clued up arentcha

Theres a diffrence between Iron maiden & Sabbath !!!

Iron Maiden are a cheezy Heavey metal band with 1 sorta alright song , Bring ya daughter to the slaughter.

Sabbath Rock!! , blue suede shoes lived ruled .. pure riffs

The Clash were apart of the punk movement in the late 70,s with songs like white riot ,in the footsteps of the sex pistols

The only thing rock & roll about the beatles was in the very early days when they were doing rock & roll cover songs in the early 60s after that they were pretty much pop ( beatle mania ) & in 68 when Dylan introduced them to Lsd and all the outher drugs around at that time they become phycadelic writing songs about drugs & what not, !

dylan actually introduced the beatles to pot in 64 in a hotel room
brian epstein was also there and got high

as for lsd it was a dentist friend of george harrison who first gave it to lennon and harrison in 66

Well seen as most of the best rock bands are missing, I vote #11 Other.

Queen
Bon Jovi
Motorhead
Def Leppard

Just to name a couple that I don't think been mentioned and I could list a lot more too.

Ac/dc!!

Metallica, Nirvana and Guns N' Roses deserve an honourable mention, imo.
AC/DC in my book.

Why? They were a sloppy boring band who spent their short time together just ripping off the true grunge legends and one of the greatest bands ever, the Pixies.

Where is Chucky Berry? Grateful Dead, Queen

Ac-Dc All the way... Awesome Vocals that no one can copy, plus angus puts on one hell of a solo show.

Motorhead + Queen are brill, not sure about the outher 2 though

Led Zep for best of all time. I think newer hard rock bands who have shown some staying power like The Foo Fighters will go on to become greats (because, face it, the "alternative rock" sound was really nothing more than a resurgance of hard rock)

Smoke on the water is,nt there best song , theres also Black Night ,, Highway Star, Halighluja, when a blind man cries ,, Hush,, No No No,, Mandrake root, and plenty more where they came from,

Quote Sket1983
don't like any of the options.
would have been nice to see Muse and Foo Fighters there

Muse, foofighters songs aint got nothing on these foot stomping anthems

They dont deseve a mention among these great Quality bands...

you aint got a clue about Classic Rock dude

First off the clash were punk (sex pistol wannabe,s) ..Bob Dylan Aka ,Robert Zimmerman was folk singer johnny cash was Folk/Country,, Pink Floyd were more a experimental rock act not hard rock, Nirvana were Grunge,, U2 are a bubble Gum band ,[ The Who & Cream are in the poll,, try looking first.

I wouldnt swap Lynard Synyrd 2 hit wonders , sweet home, blah blah & Free Bird for anyone in the list ok.

The Clash being Sex Pistol wannabe's?? Not even close! Sex Pistols were rooted in Chuck Berry and Angst.... The Clash was influenced by Ska, Reggae, classic rock and the whole punk ethos of breaking it all down and creating something new...

Actually John and Georges Dentist introduced them to LSD, they then hung with Tim Leary allot... Cheers!

The Who or Velvet Underground would be my choices with The Who by a guitar string...
