The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
mankind did not invent fire, but it was surely one of the greatest discoveries by mankind.

I think that the discovery that breathing is important might top it, but that's just me.

How can someone "invent" fire?

We didnt invent animals or plants to eat either but they're on there. Its all about how we have learned to control them to our advantage and junk.
It should probably be listed as the domestication of fire.

and whats this about humans evolving from monkeys?

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
If you didn't say writing then you didn't have anything to read in order to vote and you don't have anything to write a response to this with.
:thefinger:

Try to imagine what our lives would be like without one of them and that makes it easier. I still gotta say no effin way we would be where we are without the wheel. Just look at some of the people in Africa today who have yet to invent the wheel and you will see confusion and backwardness. :dunno:

And I also think fire is more of a discovery than anything.

Yeah, seriously. I hate when people say this. We are APES not monkeys. There is a huge difference. We fall under the Order of primates which includes monkeys and baboons and shit, but that is the cut off point. Hell, the family we belong to literally translates into "Great Ape", which just sounds kick ass to me. A bit narcissistic, but kick ass nonetheless.:nanner:

Even though we didn't invent fire(which is why I didn't vote), our mastery over it is the thing that stands out the most when it comes to separating ourselves from the other species. Think about it; all other species(except maybe the now extinct Homo Erectus) that have existed on this planet come into contact with fire and instinctively run away. We are the only ones to ignore instinct and harness the power of fire. Without it, civilization would not exist. Man would not have gotten beyond hunter/gatherer society with the occasional farming here and there.
