funny translation

just went on the german site of freeones and just wanted to let you know that if you look at the babes section and want to click on "suggest new babe" on the german site it says
"schlage ein model". think its very funny but that would mean punch/hit a model and i dont think you meant that:)

Google translate says it means 'propose a model' but what would you suggest then? :)

hi regina
"schlagen / schlage" means to hit/punkch/...

suggest/propose is translated as "vorschlagen".
to transcript "suggest new babe" you need the prefix "vor" as final syllable.
--> "Schlage ein neues Model vor" is correct german.

Seems to me that Christa thought that this would be a general thread for funny translations (it's not, this is the "Questions to the Webmaster" section of the forum) and probably linked hotrod's profile due to something in the visitor messages. Glancing the messages there very quickly, I saw that there is some talk about translations. :) So maybe that's it..?

I'm also very much :2offtopic right now..

:D:D
didn't notice it hereby.
looks almost 'normal', except my e/g hodgepodge. could be a reason.
the posts here seems stil on-top, anyway, automat :1orglaugh

You are responsible for Charlie Sheen. I blame you FreeOnesh! Also, frozen dinner.

Thanks for the correct translation but unfortunatelly it is just a bit too long.
There's a max amount of characters we can use.
But perhaps you can help us out with something really short with the same meaning (Suggest new Babe)! :D

schlage ein model vor "suggest a model"
or if needed Model vorschlagen

schlage ein model vor "suggest a model"
or if needed Model vorschlagen

how many characters are we allowed to use, regina?? ;) :D

hotrods suggestion is almost good.

BUT:
"model" is known here as "denglisch" ("german-english-mix") in this context for a 'manequin' or 'darstellerin'... we've got no good, short word for it, so we use it (more or less).
also, there's a german word in a different context: a "Model" is a wooden mold/mould for cinnamon-coockies & gingerbread. :D
well known in "the whole south" like swabia , bavaria and franconia.
those "northern hessians" like hotrod are really NOT familiar with that.
(i put a pic as attachement)

before i swap to too much offtop:

the german word "Neuvorschläge" (or "Neuvorschlaege" in ASCII without umlaut) hits the point.
both -literally and in meaning- it means "new proposals" (respectively "new proposals for a name" in the special site context).

cheers, ka-jott

This is what you said earlier and we actually do have Schlage ein Model

bump because nothing was changed. i should still punch models:)

And now this again ;)

Let's just say we keep it as it is for now.
FreeOnes is translated in many languages and I'm sure if you really look into it you can find many things that could have been translated in a better way.
But we're not really focussed nor do we have the time to check every single translation. :dunno:
