Football vs American Football

This is such a pointless debate, the US ain't gonna change unless they win the World Cup or suddenly start attracting the best players in the world to their league. I've met plenty of US soccer fans who prefer to travel to England and watch games rather than follow their local teams who play in a second rate league. If the hardcore US soccer fans won't embrace MLS then I don't think it's got a chance of ever getting close to the big 3 US sports.

Just let the US get on with their sport and the rest of the world will continue their obsession with Football. By the way does the "US Football (NFL)" Olympic competition start in the next few days?

That's just an asinine statement. Football isn't an Olympic sport. I've already explained the reason why earlier in the thread.

A sport where faking injuries seems to be accepted as the norm isn't something I care to watch.

How can you say such a thing??

Sometimes these footbballers really do hurt their little toe, and I can say with experience that sometimes the hairs on your leg mingle with the weave of the sock and when that gets pulled out...Ouch!! You just can't play through that kind of pain...:1orglaugh

American Football - only american understans, really violent, rustic and stupid sport.
Most important, Never will be a olimpic sport.

Football - most popular sport in the world.

O god. You had to revive this old argument. The two sports are in no way similar or comparable.

And the reason American Football won't ever be an Olympic sport is because the U.S. would win gold every time. Kinda like the way we win the gold in almost every other sport in the Olympics every 4 years. I mean come on. The IOC might as well just start mailing all the Gold medals to the U.S. early from now on.

Nobory Know NFL, Great shit in the world !
Anyone great diaries in the world give one article about it.

American College Football. So much more exciting than the NFL.

I've watched a few football (Soccer) games. Nothing against it, or anything. I just couldn't get that excited about it. I feel the same way about Nascar, golf and Tennis.

I don't understand what you just wrote, but ok...

It's an American thing man. You don't have to like it. We don't expect Brasileiros to understand our obsession with the game. You have your soccer(Football) thing and we have our Football (American Football) thing.

One thing we can all agree on though, Cricket is gay.

Soccer is the real football. American football (cough) only kick the ball sometimes in a game.
Soccer is most the best

So american football sucks because they only kick the ball some of the time? That's your reasoning? A game must be played almost exclusively with the feet for you to enjoy it?

Hey, whatever floats your boat.

"It's an American thing man" I said it ten posts ago, "American" Football. but, soccer is not a "brazilian thing" . Soccer is a world thing. Not be created for "brasileiros".

I really love american culture, music, movies and music. But american football is hard to eat.

Then don't eat it! Who cares?

This thread is so fucking old that this has undoubtedly been stated before somewhere but I'm too fucking lazy to look for it. Soccer will never be a major sport in the USA because all the great American athletes opt for football, baseball or basketball. Until or unless the best American athletes choose to play soccer (and that will only happen if that's where the money is....which it ain't!), it will be a second-tier sport here. Doesn't mean one sport is "better" than another....that's all in the eye of the beholder. Love soccer if that's what makes you happy. Why anyone would be upset over one sport versus another is beyond me.

Meh. I've said my peace about the NFL what...18 months ago in this thread? I'm not going to rehash. I would like to say that if there is a Euro, South American or Aussie member of Freeones who is interested in trying to understand American Football---bypass the NFL and head straight to College Football. It is a purer, more free-flowing game, especially with a college team that runs an Option attack offense. Having watched NFL and College games in person for years, the better *crowd atmosphere* by far is at a college game. Typical NFL fan watches the game, of course, but the crowd is more docile than at a typical "Big Boy" college stadium.

I wish the US would be more into European football but the NFL is hard to beat.
To say that NFL players are NOT athletes is complete ignorance.
Just because the NFL isn't supported by the Olympics doesn't make it a weak sport. When I found out that speed walking was an Olympic event I stopped watching it...
