Economists Predict When The Recession Will End...

A group of financial wizards looked into their crystal ball Tuesday and saw some good news.

The recession will ease by the end of this year and companies will begin adding workers, signaling the end of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

Why should we listen to the experts' predictions of when the recession will end when these same exact experts couldn't predict that it would even be happening to begin with?

companies adding workers? Shit my company will never add workers. My boss is a fucking tightwad. Someone quits, do we replace them? noooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Its bullshit! The economy could be booming in a few years time and my employer will simply run the staff we have now if theres even that few of us left.

God I hope the economy turns around soon so I can find a different fucking job! The place I'm at now is a horrible place to be trapped. And thats the only reason I'm still there, cause its next to impossible to find a job these days...

Well, it's always easy bashing the ones that make predictions about the developments of complex, widely connected and complicated systems while we ourselves don't develop one genuine thought of our own. And a lot of economists (and others as well) outside the US predicted this crisis for years now.
Most economists I talked to recently believe, that the recession will probably slow down until the end of this year and end the latest in late 2011, at least in Germany.

Of course predictions can be wrong. That's why in my line of work we hardly make them. We already get bashed or ignored by smartasses and know-it-alls who couldn't walk a mile in our shoes, just because they think they are oh so clever. We'd be damned if we'd start making predictions about everything that will happen in the future.
