i tried to, but my copy wont work. i also recently decided on passing down my atari 2600 to my youngest sister in related news.
Is that on an emulator? I heard they still make Atari 2600 games

I don't have any experience with Deadlands.
Are you finishing up the campaign or are your players just losing interest in the one you have?
You don't necessarily have to play an entirely new system. Sometimes just playing a new type of theme can be good for people that want something new. Like instead of having a Ravenloft dark and gritty type game with undead and other gothic horrors you could have a standard fantasy adventure, or one set in a ancient Egyptian type setting with mummies, pyramids, and pharos, and ancient Greek mythology type game, a Norse inspired game, a game where you visit different planes of existence, or just something else off the beaten path.
Maybe to keep things fresh each week you could alternate weeks where you play something like a standard fantasy game one week and then go on to play a science fiction game the next week or some other similar thing where both games are pretty different.
Of course there is nothing wrong with giving a new system a try if that's what people want to do either.
While I haven't played Deadlands myself, it has a big following. Especially the SW version.
As far as what we do between campaigns...well, usually it's the group taking a vote on what they want to do next. Once they decide, depending on what was decided I usually need a few weeks to prepare so if any game days fall when I'm preparing, it's usually board games or a one shot of something.
no loss of interest, we are reaching the climax and the excitement is all happening now. its been a good run and real fun im just prepping for the end. of course, i have a spinoff already conceived and ready to go when/if the time comes. the real issue is all the newbies who are still really learning 4e, including me. learning a new system is can potentially to be an issue for some of us. but yeah, i've been always thinking of a more classic old school setting as well.
man, not enough hours in the day to do all the gaming one wants.
yeah, thats exactly what we're gonna go. ask and see what the interest is when its all over. personally, im voting to play in this cowboy shit. it would be good for me to be on the other side of the screen. i havent been a player in over a year i think and that was the guys suggestion. he wanted to make sure i was having fun and offered to run something so that i can play. ill give it a go.
and yeah, we got lots of other games for backup. pokemon got really popular with the entire group so we play it all the time.
Well, the last Vampire game went amazingly well. For some reason there's more gaming and less fucking around these days. Anyways, I discovered a new way to torment them. Have the head honcho reward them for finishing a task. They fucked up (but did finish the task), so they were rewarded. My husband tells me later on "I don't feel right about this...". Mwahaha. Is it the DM being nice, or is there something more sinister brewing? Only time will tell....
Not that I would ever do this because it's kind of cruel, but another way a DM can be vindictive is to take your players' treasures and other goodies away from them. Some of them will dislike that more than their character dying. That's why the rust monster and black pudding are so scary to go against.
And about 100+ other minis that a picture wasn't taken of. Vampires and shit. ;-) But the most important one is the big bad ass here!!
Finally a large Cthulhu to go with and lead all your mini ones.
Are you going to paint it.
