I dont, as i feel that the human mind cant really comprehend the truth, i mean how much do we actually know about the planet we live on or the universe? (not alot). Alot of people seem to believe in god because it gives them security in knowing that their is this omnipotent power that controls everything for them, i used to believe in god but the more i thought of it the less optimistic i got, this is just my opinion i'm probably still a antagonist. :glugglug:

Erm anatagonistic, i ment agnostic, i'll stop taking those stupid pills now.

Just wondering how many of you that don't or do believe in god/jesus take part in christmas, easter, newyears ex.

Why do you do so?

Christmas isn't ever started in the book. The date of the birth isn't stated
in the book. So why the 25th of Dec.

I do believe in god and I do take part it the about, but I'm really starting to rethink it.

Also how many of you think that there is a super power forming on this planet
and who do you think it is?

It's really not exactly known the time when Christ was born. Many scholars debate it occured around October. However, needing the actual date of the birth of Christ is really irrellevant anyway. The current date was chosen in order to blend in this christian celebration (we call Christmas) with a pagan holiday to try and convert unbelievers. Since then, it has simply evolved into a season where we should reflect on God's love and forgiveness by sending his one and only Son, Christ the Lord.
For the unbelievers who celebrate it anyway, I think it's just something they get wrapped up in because they happen to live in the country that promotes it. I doubt people get out a "golden calf" or worship a "sun god" on christmas, so it's not a pagan holiday anymore (per say) for unbelievers.
Everyday we should be thankful for God's love and his blessings, but I think Christmas time is when we can all come together for a party and say Happy Birthday Jesus!

No ~ could it BE more obvious there is no "god"? It is a tragedy so many people revolve their life around some bullshit lies from the primitive days of civilisation. You die, it is the end. Get over that fact and enjoy life!

are u serious? im goign to try real hard not to flame here, but that is perhaps the most incoherent and misconstrued philosophical logic that i have heard in a long time.

anyways, i said this way backin the beginning but the odds the people above me relating to science have joined this thread after my posts. scientifically speaking, (and to be honest i stole this point from physicists stephen hawking), somewhere back in time u always end up with an anomolie (sp?), why does the universe go through the bother of existing? somewhere down the line, no matter how far back u track time and the evolution of the universe u come to a point where it all has to begin, something spurs the universe to BE THERE. If you believe in the big bang theory, what caused two rocks to just appear, float together and crash, and then millions of years later create all these civilizations that we see around us?

My respect and admiration to you all who have posted

Quite surprisingly... there has been no flaming, name-calling, or even the slightest hint of divisiveness. Be proud of yourselves, people... be very proud!

As a fallen student of theology, I have this unique perspective of seeing the problem from both viewpoints and sides of the equation. I have my faith; sorely tested and weakened as it is... but I also posess a more scientific viewpoint to consider as well.

I'm quite pleased with everyone's conduct on this thread. You guys (and ladies) have conducted yourselves in a manner that has left me quite speechless.

Keep it up. Continue to be respectful of each other's opinions and views.

Give yourselves a pat on the back for being mature... and conducting yourselves as rational adults in the 21st century rather than barbarians and marauders at the gates.

Well done. Well done.

To be honest, I don't know what to believe anymore...except for myself. When someone finally gets to speak to God and comes back to me with solid proof of the 'afterlife', the only thing I will continue to believe in is myself. There's too many horrible things out in the world today going on that I figure a God who is caring and all-powerful would not allow to happen to His children. That is pretty much all I can say about that.

Just because something is unknown doesn't mean that there is a higher power behind it. Nobody, and I mean nobody including Stephen Hawking, is smart enough or knowledgable enough to be able to tell you how it all started or why were here. But that may change as humans progress and learn the secrets of the universe. One day far into the future human beings may be able to answer those questions but right know all we can do is guess.

Well I think we were born out of a big cosmic egg, and God is a giant inter-stellar chicken made of space dust

LOL, well it collosions in space happen all the time, jupiter had a massive rock hit it a few years ago, thankfully it was tiny compared to the size of the planet, but that would hav wiped us out if it hit earth, i think its called chance, and it happens every so often, ask the dinosaurs.
so what your sayin is that god created the earth and put dinosaurs on it, didnt like them and thought f00k them, i'll wipe them out wit a massive asteroid, then for 65million years (i dont know the real number i just made this up but probably close thou) he twiddled his thumbs for that millions of years then suddenly created the human race. but if god did create everything we know today who created god? someone must have put him there??
For me there's just to much evidence in science to much fact, i'm with the whole evolution thing, we started as fish all that stuff.
Is there only one god? what about other religions and there gods? where is god today?why is there so much suffering in the world today?
so many questions yet very little answers. don't get me wrong i'm not against religion, i just feel that there ideals for people to live with, a sorta guidline for there life to be lived by so to speak

correct me if i'm wrong but that is in the bible ain't it??
so he created man in his image yet he created dinosaurs aswell if he created the earth am i right?? So what was his inspiration or reason for creating dinosaurs then? And does it mention that he created dinosaurs in the Bible? If he didnt create Dinosaurs, who did?

No, I don't believe in God. I consider myself to be an atheist. For me religion, specifically organized religion (whatever faith it may be), and the sermonizing of religious texts is just another form of control.

I'm not being disrespectful to people who do believe :) It must be a wonderful thing to have faith in something, however I don't.

I've asked this question and never really got an answer. Ok during the 7 days he made earth. One of those days he made man. As far as I know man wasn't around when the dinosaurs where right. So how where they here
before the earth was. So they both had to be here at the same time from
what it says in the bible. I have heard form people satan was put here to glorify the earth untill he or it went against god and now he is here to turn us all against god. So maybe he put the dinosaurs here? Guess we won't really know until we are dead.
