Death Row Sniper Has Final Appeal Refused

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
This is what I was thinking. How much in tax dollars does it cost to keep the average life sentence inmate in prison?

The truth of the matter is that it is much more expensive for the state to carry out an order of execution because of the endless appeals process that takes place and the incredible legals costs that go with it. The monetary argument is a myth.

That is why in this case the execution should not have been delayed this long! It is well known he did it, never should have been appeals, or any of that crap. Straight the death.

Save a lot of time, money, and gotten it over with.

Well there is this little constitutional right to due process.

you cant pick and choose the parts of the bible you want to follow
before Numbers there is Leviticus which says you shouldn't masturbate or shave your beard or eat pork etc.
before that is Exodus where it says dont have lust for your neighbors wife, yet here we are all watching porn
if you want to quote the bible on this quote the New Testament where all Jesus talks about is unconditional love for your neighbors, i mean really which is a better message?

thats it, ok, i wash my hands of this thread :wave2:

Yeah Will E Worm!!! Didn't Jesus himself said that when you get smacked, you give your other cheek?

In this case it is just delaying the inevitable. Hoping somewhere, somehow there is a loophole or some law to exploit to get him off. Basically glorification on the lawyer(s) part. Because if he can get someone like this off of the death penalty, they will be sought after by many in similar court cases, thus raking in the money.

However, what you said about the potential of innocent being sent to death because of death penalty, I certainly understand that. I have my pros and cons on the death penalty.

Thing is, this sniper, it's well known and shown and proven he was the sniper. For it to take this long because of appeals and delaying, that's too much.

It is simply delaying the inevitable that everyone knows will happen sooner or later.

Man, the US is turning into a bunch of pussies. You guys call yourselves men? Men have battled for centuries over ideas, land, riches...and now people have a hard time seeing one man killed for the atrocious things he did. And you guys complaining aren't WOMEN (which is still sick), but MEN.

The Death Penalty is to deter people from committing these crimes to begin with.

Does it work on everybody? Obviously not.

Does that mean it doesn't work?

Food for thought: Let's say we change the law so that the only people who get the death penalty, are those who murder on even days of the month. (2,4 6, etc)

Murder would SKYROCKET on the odd days.

Does this say something?

I think the Death Penalty/ Capital Punishment, is a double edged sword.
First off its not a penalty, or Punishment, - its pretty damn permanent, I prefer calling it what it is "Death Sentence"- Permanent.
I think if someone is to be executed, it can not be for any sense of revenge, but has to be carefully weighed justice, and purpose or value in sustaining the criminal's life at tax payers expense.
having said that brings about a TONE of questions.
in this particular instance I have no problem with this man getting executed.
if this man is set free he will most likely do it again, holding him for life is an expense to the tax paying family members of the people he killed.
The Death Penalty I do not think is an intimidation factor, and I don't think every murder warrants the death penalty, (yes another hot topic) but at some point you have to say enough is enough, we live in a natural world governed by the laws of natural selection, no matter how hard we develop civilization to shield us against it.
at some point one has to say no more.
In this case, it's an easy decision, but Eye for an Eye - Tooth for a Tooth, cold vengeance instead of blind justice, makes the executioners as bad as the murderers.

Why waste the time and money to even have a trial then? Due process is due process.:2 cents:

I would like to add--

To those of you who think jail time is enough: I understand where your coming from...really. It sounds like good justice to let them sit in jail the rest of their life by them self.

But the sad fact is that murderers in the US serve an average of something like 8-11 years in jail.

To someone who is considering murder, 8-11 years is not that bad of a punishment.

Now, if our country starting getting serious about the death penalty and serious sentences, someone cosidering murder could have potentially 50+ years in prison OR DEATH.

Most people consider consequences before these decisions. Consequences matter.

Trial is fine. Appeals and all that to delay his death as long as they can for whatever reason, mainly monetary gain, is crap.

Heck, shoot on sight, would work for me and just have tax money go to replace one used bullet.

tough call. we all want to hate this guy, but frankly America is startlingly alone in their use of the death penalty. That is not to say no one else uses it, but have a look here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_capital_punishment_by_nation

Look at Europe, South America, and Australia. Mostly it is Communist and Muslim nations that still employ the death penalty, so those defending it with Christianity might take a moment to consider that.

Stop the death penalty. That's my $0.02.

excuse me im sorry i know i said i was leaving but...

have you ever spent any time with no human contact? i'd consider it inhumane to do that to someone; to deprive them of human contact

8-11 is way to small, but the legal system is VERY broken

THAT is all now i'm out (maybe)

The same argument for having a trial is the exact same for exhausting the appellate process, due process.

As obvious as a person's guilt may be they still have a right to a trial...as obvious as a person's guilt and conviction may be they still have a right to exhaust their appeals in our system of justice.

We all know it's not a perfect reality....

Most of those laws were given to the Israelites of the time, not the Christians/ Gentiles.

Here's a few laws given to the Gentiles to follow.
ACTS 15:19-20 (KJV)
19: Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20: But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

Yeah Will E Worm!!! Didn't Jesus himself said that when you get smacked, you give your other cheek?

No, and that verse is always taken out of context, just like the "judge not" verse.

Numbers 35:16 (KJV)
16: And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

shoot the fucker with a 408 cheytac sniping rifle in the head, he deserves to die not to live.

Everyone has their own mindset. Why argue or debate it? The execution is going to happen.

Execution is like the abortion topic, no matter what is said, everyone is going to believe what they believe about the topic.
