Oh fuck....this again?

Guess where I stand, Jackster.

You really need to learn to use the search function. This subject has been beaten to death here....sorta like the abortion issue. Oh wait, didn't you just do a thread on that today as well???

I go to Jag for all things Death Penalty on a porn board.
Better check in w/ Jag next time, ma dood.

This thread was specifically started for Jagger. I'd very much enjoy hearing his take on the death penalty, seeing how his Sig is very much anti death penalty.

I also find it strange that most everyone in here can, and has, faithfully let their beliefs and or ideas be known, regardless of the topic. And, most everyone makes light of it and has a good laugh about it. Yet, when I admit my beliefs, be it about hippies, abortion, the death penalty, guns, etc., most all of you come down on me like a ton of bricks.

That being said, I really don't care what stance you take on your beliefs, I just enjoy having good conversations and debates on the reason for your beliefs. I'm not trolling, not looking to push buttons, I'm simply trying to have a good discussion about various topics.

Keep it. Don't use it if there's doubt about guilt or if there are extenuating circumstances, such as mental deficiency or the dude raped your wife or the crime was committed under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
There's a big difference between an execution as punishment for a crime and murder. Just as there's a big difference between killing a foe on the battlefield and murder. And an aborted fetus / baby didn't commit a crime, so that's another situation as well.

i honestly don't care what most other people think so why should they care what i think? besides my thoughts on most popular "political" topics are contrary to any realistic outcome anyway so it's a waste of my time to babble about them.

"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion".

If you don't care about the answers to controversial questions you ask then you are asking them to provoke people and that is TROLLING.

The reason people come down on you is because you are an attention whore that went so far as to make a thread about whether or not you were wanted on the site. After almost everyone agreed your attention whoring and meaningless posts were annoying and unwanted you created another account as if it wasn't going to be obvious as to what your previous username was. ANYONE who comes onto this site with an attitude of self importance is going to get shit from members. (Except for Andronicus, its sorta his thing.)

Conspiracy...
Bring back the electric chair.

I only ask, because some are in favor of abortion (killing an innocent baby), yet are not in favor of the death penalty (killing a murderer who was found guilty in a court of law).

Kind of a double standard, yes?

:dunno:

Double standard. :yesyes:

If someone kills another person in cold blood they must die.

I want to see it gone, worldwide.
People who decide to kill a person because that person has killed someone, makes those people as bad as the actual killer that they want to kill. I know difficult sentence, but it makes sense.
Who are we to judge over the life of someone else?

How is someone punishing a killer by putting him down just as bad as the killer, who raped and killed some kids?? It doesn't seem like the same thing to me. As a matter of fact, anybody who thinks it's the same thing needs a helmet.

I'm down with the death penalty. Get rid of these scumbags. If we have to kill a few innocent people in the process, so be it.

I am going to gently call bullshit on this. Back on the Moon landing thread, you specifically stated that you were just starting shit and it wasn't a serious topic. So you can get the fuck off your high-horse and you can also realize that you are going to be treated with scepticism for a while. You brought it on yourself, so quit your bitching.

No - different situation entirely, which I am not going into in this thread.

if we are gonna get serious about curtailing crime, time to start using it more often. Only then will it be a deterrent.
Is the death penalty a deterrent?
From http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/facts-about-deterrence-and-death-penalty
A recent survey of the most leading criminologists in the country from found that the overwhelming majority did not believe that the death penalty is a proven deterrent to homicide. Eighty-eight percent of the country’s top criminologists do not believe the death penalty acts as a deterrent to homicide, according to a new study published in the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology and authored by Professor Michael Radelet, Chair of the Department of Sociology at the University of Colorado-Boulder, and Traci Lacock, also at Boulder.

Similarly, 87% of the expert criminologists believe that abolition of the death penalty would not have any significant effect on murder rates. In addition, 75% of the respondents agree that “debates about the death penalty distract Congress and state legislatures from focusing on real solutions to crime problems.”

The survey relied on questionnaires completed by the most pre-eminent criminologists in the country, including Fellows in the American Society of Criminology; winners of the American Society of Criminology’s prestigious Southerland Award; and recent presidents of the American Society of Criminology. Respondents were not asked for their personal opinion about the death penalty, but instead to answer on the basis of their understandings of the empirical research.

You're not interested in discussion, Jack. That's obvious when you make one of your ignorant threads, get called on the facts, and then go running away and never address the questions people raise that hurt your arguments. You come out with hate, calling people names, and making veiled threats and think people are too dumb to realize what you're doing. I don't know on what forum you encountered people dumber than yourself that let you get away with your bullshit, but this isn't the place. I'll tell you again, you should lurk more and post less.

There is always the risk that the convicted person is innocent.

I have to say that I do not support the death penalty.

It is better to put a murdered in jail.

It needs some serious improvement (as does the rest of the legal system) and might be better off suspended in the short term for the sake of reform. But in the long term, yes, the death penalty is better kept than abolished. Call it a necessary evil, but necessary nonetheless.

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
This thread was specifically started for Jagger. I'd very much enjoy hearing his take on the death penalty, seeing how his Sig is very much anti death penalty.

I appreciate the dedication Jack but, as I remarked previously, there are already an abundance of threads on this topic. That's what the "search" function is for (upper right-hand section of your screen). You need to learn how to use it....it is designed to avoid the posting of redundant threads like this one. I contributed my views to a very significant degree in those threads so if you want to know what my thoughts and reasoning on the subject are, please do a search and I assure you that you'll find an abundance of material in that regard.

Alternatively, if you'd care to discuss the subject with me one-on-one, feel free to send me a private message and I promise I'll reply. However, I'm not in favor of wasting any more of Freeones' bandwidth on an extremely redundant thread.
