The crying was real. I didn't know that they left that in the scene. I haven't fully watched it yet. Generally when I am doing a bdsm scene (whether in my personal or professional life) there comes a point were I finally break down. It's not a bad thing and it's a stage that I would always like to reach when playing around in the bdsm world. After I do break down and shed all of my tears I feel this sense of lightness...like somethings been let go of or set free. Because I was in a crowd I wasn't feeling "safe" enough to let myself fully go and cry myself out.
I saw some kind of "Health News" report a year or so ago where researchers specifically looked at the benefits of crying. There are a lot of people who feel better after a good cry, not just when they're grieving, but also when they're stressed, when they're aroused or even when they're happy, like at weddings.
But in the end they concluded (somewhat surprisingly) that there really aren't many upsides to people's physiological or emotional well-being from crying. They found that laughter has all kinds of beneficial effects on our health and does much more to promote happiness in the long term.
I'm not sure this really means anything, but I thought it was interesting.
