Gas stove and oven. Chest freezer packed with huge chunks of ice and food for over a month. 3 1.75 Ltr. vodka. Plenty of smokes. My normal supplies. Rain just starting to fall so time to bring my herbs in. All transit shut down till further notice. Winds are starting to swing trees. Apartment is on the second floor so no flood to worry about. Laptop is charged to bet my horses with in case power goes out. I'm good to go.

Pretty sure the worst of it is over here, and it wasn't that bad at all. Some strong winds and a bit of rain. The only real inconvenience was that it was near impossible to light a cigarette.

Looks like the worst is over for me. About 190,000 homes are without power in the area. Considering when Irene came thru it was close to 1 million, this isn't too bad. If I were to drive 20 mins northwest, there would be snow. I hope BJB & Alex weren't hit too badly.

I just got power and Internet back about 1 hour ago.
No big damage to my house. Some shingles off the shed. Have neighbors with trees through their houses. Most of Long Island is still blacked out. I'm pretty lucky.

The thing that I thought about all day was - this was a category 1 hurricane, right?

That is like watching News12 on Long Island...1M without power, 900,000 withougt power, 875K without power...
We sit and watch the slow recovery. At least the numbers are going down!
My hat is off to the Long Island Power Authority. I know they'll get their butt kicked in the aftermath, but they are working their tails off and it is a mess.

This was only a category 1 and I thank God that I don't live in Haiti. Nothing against those folks, it is just about ability to recover.

Lost power Monday night and it just came back on. All I lost was heat and power. My OTB is still dark. 1 hour after the lights went out I dropped my flashlight and broke the fucking bulb. I found candles and battery Xmas lights at Target so I rode it out okay.

They still won't let people come back to the shore. That place got crushed. Even though the Governor told everyone to get out of Atlantic City, the Mayor told them they could stay. He had a shelter that was just 2 blocks from the water and it got flooded out. The Fat Man in Trenton is not happy about that. Just before the lights went out I saw a local reporter from Cape May. She was huddled in a closet in fear for her life. She said that the ocean was washing over with no way to get out. Scum in Coney Island looting. They caught about a dozen of them.
