I suppose that is why we seemingly don't even rank in the top 10 in anything that is good? As far as the kind of citizen I am, I am the best kind! I am not an apologist! I am a free thinker! I can see things for what they are! I am capable of taking off the blinders and in looking at things through non-rose colored glasses. And, best of all, I'm not a mindless hack.
Funny how I know I can walk the streets of a city the size of Toronto or Montreal & I have nothing to fear no matter where I go. But go to ANY CITY in the USA & you know there are several places you don't want to drive, much less walk through....especially after dark!
Sometimes the best kind of love one can give is tough love! I see things that are a certain way in my country and I say WHY!?!? I see things that should ideally be a certain way in my country, but aren't, and I say WHY NOT!?!?! Instead, too many Americans are too busy reciting the rhetorical mantra that we are the greatest & God bless America....as if we are the chosen ones!
In the meantime AM radio remains a pornographic cesspool of hate and vitriol! Though I'm certain that the gutless cowards that make up so-called conservative talk (you know, "entertainers" who are "conservative" for pay) will try to distance themselves from what happened & the vitriol that the spewed for months and years that served as the fuel that fed the powder keg that exploded in Arizona today! That's just how gutless cowards work! They push all the buttons, then when the inevitable occurs.......they say "who, me?!?!?!"

imo, it would be wrong to label the U.S. as a country harbouring gun-toting nuts...have we forgtten the recent assassination in Pakistan? Or the Stockholm suicide bomber who originated (unfortunately) from our shores?
These days the ideology, whether religious, political or otherwise, is taken to such extremes by some folks, that they believe they have the right to commit murder in order to justify their beliefs...

Gabrielle Giffords has not died.She is in critical condition and was talking before and after surgery.The lead trauma surgeon says that he is optimistic about her recovery.I live in Tucson,Arizona where the shooting took place.
People need to get their facts straight before posting that someone is "dead".For those who say that Americans are "gun crazy" and like to shoot people;guns are not the problem,the people who have guns that shouldn't have them are the problem.

Well, for the record, when I posted that she had died (as is the case I am sure with others who posted the same thing), I was only quoting all of the major news outlets that were reporting & confirming that she had indeed died! If you want to be pissed at anyone, be pissed at the media for, once again, being concerned with being the 1st to break a story.....as opposed to being concerned with old school principles of journalism such as whether or not the story is correct. Forgive me, but we SHOULD be able to rely on something as serious as this being accurate when ALL of the major outlets are reporting it! Of course, once again this was proven to be inaccurate! Clearly someone on the ground in Tucson leaked inaccurate information to the media & all outlets picked up on this piece of inaccurate information!
