You probably already know this, but it's a wasted effort. Will doesn't occupy the same reality as we do. As in, he has a mental disorder of some kind or another. I don't mean this as in insult; I mean this as my honest best attempt to explain the incredible consistency at which he operates inconsistently. I'm no expert, but I made a case for schizophrenia in another thread. I have someone in my family who has the same sort of disconnect with reality - it can be surprisingly subtle.

The most rational post in this thread. Communism is an interesting yet unworkable economic theory that has never once been implemented successfully. Bob's concise statement is the reason why.

That being said, show me where Capitalism has worked. Tell me why it would.

"Working" and being "successfully implemented" are not necessarily synonymous. Capitalism has been successfully implemented in nations far too numerous to list. Attempts to successfully implement communism, on the other hand, have invariably morphed into some form of totalitarian state that can either be fascist/socialist in nature (i.e. Soviet Union) or fascist/capitalist (i.e. China).

Not everything is about money, Will. Fossil fuel reliance is going to bankrupt and kill us; we will run out of them. When that happens, what do you think the wars will be like? That's not even getting into the climate debate, and we are causing a concrete change in the global climate. Ditching efforts to diversify how we get our fuel and power is the single dumbest thing society could do at this point. But hey, this green nonsense is costing money, fuck that shit.

The reason modern green appliance breaks isn't because they're green, but because they're built to break so that you then have to buy them again (built in obsollesence is often offered as part of engineering courses at uni).
So it's not ecological friendliness that causes problems, but rather... capitalism!

Not only does this country build wealth but we share it. Governmental and private citizens. Yea, rich people too. Don't make me dig those numbers back up I showed you before. This is the place that when thing go a little sour we turn it around and build upon it. We don't kneel at the state house steps hoping for their wisdom and salvation. Another good one. But successful is a better term than intelligent . A lot of very intelligent people wind up nowhere through bad decisions.
And it doesn't exactly have to be a non white, it could be anybody born poor, or simply just not with a silver spoon.
I guess my point was that I see a lotta victim mentality promotion and disdain encouragement coming from the schools, media, politicians too.

VV, I am not opposed to changing capitalism at all. Greed (and, let's face it, that's the deadly sin that the system us based upon) is responsible for more evil things in this world than just about anything else I can think of. The point I was trying to make is that capitalism, no matter its evils, has proven to be a sustainable economic system many times over whereas every single attempt to institute communism as an economic system has failed to sustain itself.
