The last turd that Roger Waters flushed had more talent in it than Justin Beebore and Lady GooGoo have in their whole bodies... combined.
The last "real" modern rock band I can think of that was worth much was Guns N' Roses - before heroin turned them to shit.
I have not, sadly, but I can only imagine it's pretty amazing! They're going to be at Bonnaroo this year too which is another reason alongside Tom Petty that I really want to go.
I hope they have a good lighting set up cause along with his awesome music, his videos & light shows are second to none! It's more than just music with him, it's an experience.
@ThatRedWing If we're mentioning Overplayed songs then Smoke On The Water is at the top of that list.
Heck yeah I consider them to be classic rock. I mean, what else would you call them? Just plain old rock? Nah. Cuz most plain old rock, at least modern rock, is quite different, and they are not like any modern rock bands, that's for sure.
If you were to look up (google or whatever) the top greatest classic rock hits, artists, etc. I'm sure you'd be bound to see most of those on many of the lists.
Speaking of Tom Petty. He's playing at Bonnaroo this year and I really, really, really want to go. But I don't think I'm gonna get to go![]()
Exactly. There are tons of classic rock bands and what some people consider to be classic rock, like someone mentioned Metallica for instance, is not classic rock. Metallica is far from it.
Here's some examples of artists in the classic rock genre. Huge range:
Joe Walsh
Creedence Clearwater Revival
The Kinks
Steppenwolf
Led Zeppelin
Animals
Jefferson Airplane
Black Sabbath
Tom Petty
Blue Oyster Cult
The Zombies
The Doors
Kansas
Eric Clapton
Cheap Trick
Scorpions
The Police
Alice in Chains
Ray Charles
Manfred Mann
Foreigner
The Cars
Motley Crue
Van Halen
Motorhead
Canned Heat
Iron Maiden
Dio
Whitesnake
Kiss
Judas Priest
Steve Miller Band
Guns N Roses
The Runaways
Jimi Hendrix
Joan Jett
George Thorogood
Heart
Etc, etc. There's tons. Tons and tons and tons.
Ya know, I used to have it, and had a free trial with my truck when I bought it. I might go back, but when they merged, it fucked up Sirius. They took what THEY thought were the best of both, and I think they screwed it up. Even with the pay service, I still here way to much repetitious bullshit, and worst of all, every fucking dj has to prove they can hit the post, and they just have to talk over the beginning of the song. God forbid, I should get to hear the guitar intro, or the end of a song, without some chuckle head yakking it up over what could be the best part of a song. You have no idea how long it's been, since I've heard the end of "Have A Cigar" played out, without a dj talking over it.
Name any "Classic" Rock artist and I can name at least one song that got way overplayed. Bob Seger - Turn the Page, Allman Brothers- Midnight Rider, Bruce Springsteen-Born to Run, Eagles-Hotel California as well as some already mentioned. You can't really judge any artist by one overplayed song in their catalog. Back in the days when DJ's could actually do their own playlists you could get some really good stuff that you hadn't heard before.
When I was making the playlist for the party, I mentioned to Roald I thew some Tom Petty on there for one reason or another. He actually said, "Who's that?" Guess Tom wasn't that popular over here.
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly; FM by Steely Dan; My Sweet Lord by George Harrison; Eight Miles High by the Byrds...etc, etc.
TEven yootoob is a great source and with firefox you can DL it to mp3.
Ick ick ick, I hate the song In A Gadda Da Vida. It's soooooo long! Drives me nuts. I like that song for maybe the first minute of it, then it just goes on forever it seems like.

What's that you say??? What do you mean?
Yup, Time Has Come Today by the Chambers Brothers is the same way. Just drags on in an irritating psychedelic way in the middle.
