Lol yeah you are right in spotting that Pakistan has switched sides over this whole thing. Relationships were already strained with the US thanks to the UAV strikes and now this seems to have pushed them over the limit.
Just now I'm hearing that alongside China, they are cutting deals with the Russians for military and diplomatic relations and "the combatting of heroin trafficking" according to Russia Today. It's kind of obvious they either stopped seeing benefit with being on the US/West's side or are just trying to intimidate/threaten the US/West into restarting their relationship.
However, cutting whatever aid Pakistan gets will most likely result in a complete collapse of the country and it falling into the Extremist's hands, essentially creating another safe haven for them. A collapsed state will probably also be rescued or helped out by the likes of the Chinese, Russians or Iranians and thus increasing their power and influence.
Either case is disasterous to the US/West, so I think best thing is to keep giving them aid, as even in the worst case scenario of them coming under the influence of Russia/China, they will still owe us something, and thus we still have a stake and say in their country.
Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

I have a resounding fear that if that kind of political course continues it's going to end up resembling the ideology of decades ago with Communism.
We must stop the terrorism from spreading otherwise its neighbors will fall under its' rule and be against us. Perhaps it's more true than it was with Communism but both have drug is into foreign wars with a potential for more down the road; with a waining sense of influence and prestige globally.

Yes I do know quite a lot thank you. Our relationship with Pakistan isn't bulletproof and we certainly won't go the distance to save that sorry lot from their own destruction. The Pakistanis are their own worst enemy, a society that chose to go down the dark road of Islamism during and after Zia ul Haq's rule. They could've saved themselves but their warped paranoia of India has only fed the Islamist nature in the Pakistani armed forces.
Everyone knows India would wipe the floor with Pakistan but China unfortunately won't allow that to happen. It's because of this that Pakistan thinks it can get away with launching terrorist attacks against India like the Mumbai terror attack.
Sorry lad, but you are wrong. A Pak-India war would go nuclear resulting in no winner. China does as it deems strategically best for it.

So we get some parts back. At this point it's moot considering the Paks have already allowed China to take a look.
Just recognize Baluchistan if the Paks are dumb enough to close off the ISAF supply line to Afgh.
Recognizing Baluchistan will mean nothing seeing as there isnt even a credible independence movement there. Plus, China would just veto any formal UN recognition.

China refusing to recognize an independent Baluchistan wouldn't do anything. Remember Kosovo? Many have recognized it, others haven't(China) nevertheless it's considered "independent".

I'm pretty ignorant on that part of the world and their culture. I know a few Pakistanis who are in the US. I like them, but there are times where they (the specific people I know) are tough to reason with. I never know if it is just their personality or their culture. Since I'm ignorant, I try not to form an opinion beyond the person.
It isn't easy.
