Can you say: "It's falling apart"

Way to go GM would be more accurate. Building GM's in China for the Chinese market makes good business sense. No where in the article did it say they were going to bring them back here for sale, and seeing as how it's a Fox website, I'm sure they didn't mention that because it's not going to happen. Way to troll, Sam.

It's funny how neither of those articles confirm they'll be imported back into the states either, preferring just to speculate on "maybe". Big company ensures profits by opening a large factory in a cheap country: surely this is a triumph of the american dream.

It's not as if Detroit is swimming in money.

Wouldn't it be better if GM had built the plant ANYWHERE in the United States and put American workers to work? Building a plant that will cost 1.3 billion dollars would put a lot of American construction workers back to work, not to mention American assembly workers once it's finished.

But, I keep forgetting -- ANYTHING that Obama does is perfectly fine. If it were any other Republican president doing the same, the mainstream media and every pundit in the country would be ridiculing him. Not so with Obama.

It's sickening, really.

Sorry, I guess I missed the part where any of this had anything to do with the government as opposed to private enterprise. Silly me.

Sam wants the government to interfere, isn't that antithetical to what he claims to believe?

Uhhh...... GM was "bailed out" by the Gov. And now the Gov takes work from here over to China? WTF have you two been bitching about for the past years? Wanting jobs kept here, right?

I fucking NEVER approved of the gov bailing out GM. You slimy liberals were the ones who were all in favor of it.

I NEVER like the gov sticking their nose where it down't belong -- GM and now Obama Care. Fuck that!!!

You don't even know what you believe, Fisher. Hey, I'm just curious, have you decided which republican you want to lose in 2016?

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
Great to see a US automaker grab their share of a burgeoning Chinese market at a time when there seems to be an opportunity:

General Motors (IW 500/4) has said one of its Chinese joint ventures will invest 6.6 billion yuan (US$1 billion) in a new plant to meet growing demand for commercial vehicles.

The venture between GM and Chinese partners SAIC Motor and Wuling Motors aims to open the 400,000-vehicle-a-year plant in the southwestern metropolis of Chongqing in 2015, according to a GM statement released late Wednesday.

The plant would be the venture's third in China, after others in the eastern city of Qingdao and Liuzhou in the south.

The three partners set up their joint venture in 2002 to produce mini-trucks and mini-vans, but the Liuzhou plant started producing a passenger car under the local Baojun brand earlier this month, GM has said.

In the first 10 months of this year, the venture sold just under 1.2 million units in China, up 13.9% year-on-year, helping propel GM's overall Chinese sales to around 2.3 million vehicles in the period, up 10.5%.

Japanese brands have suffered in the Chinese market in recent months due to a territorial dispute between the two countries, allowing other foreign companies to grab more market share.

China's nationwide auto sales growth slowed last year from 2010 but some foreign car makers have bucked the downward trend with better brand recognition and perceptions of better quality among consumers.

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.

Actually Sam, if they were going to build cars out of the country, they would do it in Mexico, or Canada, this why they can ship them in great volume, by rail. Your average train pulls about 100-150 cars, and holds probably a dozen vehicles. It cost big money to put things on container ships, and you can only fit two or three per container...THEN you still have to pay for the trucking, or rail side of shipment. That's why the rice burners get built here now. Not to mention, China is far closer to Japan, and Germany, allowing BMW, Audi, Benz, and the whole line of Japanese luxury cars to be imported much easier...and probably cheaper.
