best rock singer ever

Interesting in that SOAD Lead Guitar / back up vocals Darin Malakian also has a unique whine in his voice as well.

Listen starts at 1:13 & judge for yourselves.

Maybe it's an Armenian thingy :dunno:

I like Darins singing too, but only as a backup. He sings on his own too much now and it gets annoying. He's nice as a side-dish, but as a main course he's too much.

talking about creating a ganre?

Elvis created a phenomanon

He didn't really create anything. He never wrote his own music, he was taught how to perform.

Steve Tyler...Aerosmith???
Billy Gibbons...ZZ Top???
Stevie Ray Vaughn...Double Trouble???
Ronnie VanZant (deceased)....Lynard Skynard???
I guess there is no "BEST EVER" every dog has his day!!!

Eddie Vedder has a distinct voice, but it is not a good voice.

Freddie Mercury is the best by far.

I'd also like to throw out Ed Kowalchuk from LIVE for honorable mention. His 'live' voice is spectacular.

Can't really name one but Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, Roger Daltrey of The Who, Jim Morrison of The Doors and Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses are pretty good.

Shout outs to Johnny Rotten, Robert Plant, Micheal Hutchence, Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl also.

Chris Cornell...maybe Sammy Hagar. Ed Kowalchuk is a great one...definitely him. This is kind of tough because when I think of great rock singers I think of singers "with a presence" "and a sound" not necessarily great vocal skill...

listen to any queensryche cd; any at all, doesnt matter which. Geoff Tate is classically trained. Has a killer operatic voice. And it works great with Queensryche's rock sound. He and Robert Plant have no equal in my mind.

Again, maybe not the best, but Klaus Meine (Scorpions) can still hold a note once you get past the introductions.

What ? We're approaching the 30 year anniversary with Meine on vocals (Scorpions)?
Not bad at all, IMO.

Now, I could offer you a context where Ozzy is the best . . and . . . and . . .

Honorable mention to Layne Staley (RIP) (Alice in Chains)

If he was still alive, no doubt he'd be mistreating his children, shaving his hair off and using public toilets without shoes.

Good to see so many Maynard fans here
He's about the most complicated individual that I've ever observed. An extremely eccentric and theoretical minded man, no doubt :1orglaugh. I haven't followed him so much in APC. My loyalties are with Tool.

I have always wondered how he gets along with his colleagues.
Amazing how he enlisted in . . The U.S. Navy (IIRC ?)
He just doesn't seem to fit the "mold". ha !
In any event, Keenan is obviously extremely complex, talented and intriguing. :yesyes:

He got fat and died instead.
