The Fifty Best LIVE Bands....Ever!

There is no way on earth that Guns N' Roses is a better live band then Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen is the consumate showman and always gives the fans their money's worth, while Guns N'Roses are just as likely to make the audience wait for 2 1/2 hours as to just cancel the gig altogether.

Why? Their opinions are as valid as yours or mine. Money and fame doesn't make your taste in music better than anyone elses.

talent knows talent. i guarantee eddie van halen knows who is great live more than i do.

of course im assuming greatest live means the music and not the sideshow. this list has to be this way or else slayer would not be on the list. let alone #23. :hatsoff:

GWAR Sprayed The Front Rows With Ejaculations From A Giant Penis...
:1orglaugh I just remembered something that happened the last time we had these guys and there was a "firing penis malfunction." The front of house sound engineer, as a prank to GWAR's crew, put a tab of gaff tape over the tip of the water cannon. This was sometime around 10 in the morning. Fast forward about, oh, 10 and a half hours to when the band was playing, and the gag, which everyone had forgotten about, backfired, literally. When the guy went to shoot off the cannon, instead of getting a stream that shot out directly into the crowd, he got an effect similar to putting your finger over the end of a garden hose when the water is running; it might have sprayed people in the first row or two, but the band was the main recipient of the blast.

However I can only remember two of their songs :1orglaugh
You mean they have more than 1 song?!? I thought they played the same thing over and over again.:)

As mentioned, Allman Bros need to be there.

Widespread Panic is easily in the top ten, especially from about 1995 - 2002 when I saw them about 50 times.
Drive By Truckers are on fucking fire live. If there was a way to sling rock n' roll at the audience with catapult, these guys would be doing it.

But I don't expect any list compiled by these "stars" to relevant or remotely current; It appears they are all about 90 years old and the last live show they attended involved Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner at 8 in the morning.

I saw Metallica live 3 times in 1989, words cannot describe how fucking amazing it was.

Then I saw Suicidal Tendencies open for them in 1995, and ST blew them away. The amount of positive energy that Mike Muir constantly put off was second to none. I know, quite the irony from a band called "Suicidal Tendencies".

All in all I was about to poo poo that list until I got to the bottom and noticed that, thankfully, they included the Sensational Alex Harvey Band at #45. No list is complete without the Sensa..., wait, what? Who THE FUCK is the Sensational Alex Harvey Band?

Can anyone here name one fucking song of theirs? Anyone? :dunno:

When I saw them in 2006, they played Master of Puppets from begining to end. Never thought I'd be lucky enough to hear Orion live. It was amazing. It was the second time they'd ever played Orion.

what the fuck you lookin at?
Well I'm glad SOMEBODY had a good time with Godsmack! The last time I worked one of their shows it was one of the worst days of my working life. It was the last day of the tour, and their crew were all out of coke, so they were a bunch of raging bitch bags when load in started at 8 in the morning, and they remained quite the same until we closed the last truck at 1:53 in the morning. For the show I had to page the camera operator's cable on the stage during the show, which was all gravy, except for nobody informed me of the fact that the riser that was 10 feet from where I was there wasn't a riser at all, but it was a pyro deck, from which a 25-foot high column of flame would be shooting out, and that I should watch for that. During one of their songs, I think it was Voodoo, said flame tower shot off, and singed my eyebrows. The rest of the night I smelled like chicken.

Never said I wanted to be on a crew for any of these bands!

^ Lucky bastard. I would of loved to see their earlier 'raw' performances, but what they do now is amazing, un-like anything I've ever seen before. Even though Maynard spends hardly any time talking, his stage presence is solid yet mysterious...

I love System of a Down and would like to see them live. But Godsmack are just boring to me. Nothing interesting about them. The singer sounds like he's trying to be Hetfield.

too true the metallica thing, but they both are terrible live. maybe to the morons who havnt seen metal live, they are good. but, my mind will never be set free from what good shows i have seen. i am biased in my opinion, so dont take my word for how bad system is. :1orglaugh
